Wedding Centerpieces?

Meeting with my florist soon. I've decided to really budget on flowers. Focusing on unique bouquets and doing simple centerpieces. Thinking lanterns (in silver) and a few vases of fresh flowers surrounding. I have tons of vintage bottles/vases of my grandparents who recently passed away. And I think I'll do vibrant greens, creams, and yellow flowers. My theme is shabby chic garden - I want it to be fresh, simple, and romantic. Would this be too underwhelming?

Maybe 3 or so vases like this around lanterns..

What are you guys doing for centerpieces? Share pics/ideas!

I like it! did you find lanterns yet? I saw some at Ikea the other day- I don't remember if they had silver but I did see black and white ones.
I think your idea will turn out nice!

I don't have any pics of ours. But we are planning on doing fresh floral arrangements in a mix of flowers- roses, hydrangea, gerbera daisies and I can't remember if there were others! Half the arrangements will be around a bowl holding floating candles- the other half will go inside the bowls- if that makes sense! I am awful at explaining things!

As a garden party themed gal myself - I'll say no. But that's b/c 6 of my 13 tables have the lantern with 4 squat pint mason jars around them - 2 will have sunflowers and 2 will have blue hydrangea. I'll try and remember to post pictures of them - my wedding is Saturday - so if nothing else page Paprika and maybe she can post pics before the end of June when I get back from my honeymoon!

PS - milk glass = a favorite of mine - so that could look equally as amazing with a lantern.

FuturemrsTCT - I'm dying to see your pics! Sounds so pretty. Enjoy your wedding!!

jen - I get what you mean :) And yes - Ikea has silver ones. I was debating on black or silver but my BM dresses are a pewter gray color so I thought that might go with the theme.

The only thing I'm worried about is the ceilings are high at my venue so I wondered if I should do 1/2 lanterns and the other 1/2 a higher floral centerpiece. But I just hate spending $$ on flowers.

I like your ideas. Personally I am against high centerpieces. They are annoying for the guests trying to have a conversation and at many weddings I have been to the people took them off the table. So I like you are planning on doing short centerpieces. And I love lanterns

OOH!  I was JUST at Ikea the other day, and they have these ADORABLE lanterns for a couple of bucks.  SO CUTE.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

I love your vision for the centerpieces...it's exactly what I'm looking to do.  What about incorporating moss as well on the tables? I had seen a picture of this and it looked really nice wrapped around the lanterns and small vases.  Do you know what flowers you want to use?  And I say go with the silver lanterns.  They won't be as harsh and will flow better when looking at the room in entirety.

Thanks Lauren! And I love the moss idea - I considered doing that too. I'm going to meet with my flourist to choose flowers. I'm not sure what I'm going to go with yet, I think I want a "wildflower" look and feel.

FWIW, I doubt I'm using flowers in our centerpieces at all. Just the bouquets. I'm getting married in december though, and we're using pinecones, chiristmas balls and greens. I think we're picking up some of the lanterns that RA mentioned at Ikea in black (possibly spray painting them a rusty color to match our colors) and putting them on the tables as well.
