Registry Observation

ATTN all registry stalkers!

FI and I were stalking ours last night (it's been about 2 weeks since we last checked) and noticed that ALL of our "big ticket" items have been purchased and almost nothing of the smaller stuff has been purchased.

Has anyone else noticed that happent to them?

I would have registered for more expensive things had I known that's what people were going to buy hahaha

Re: Registry Observation

  • I wish! My shower is next weekend and so far NONE of our items on our BB&B registry have been purchased, and like 5 of the very small things from Macy's have been purchased. That's it. I'm super bummed out about it.

  • I just realized my OP makes me sound like a complete snob.  I really didn't mean for it to come off that way... we were REALLY surprised at what was purchased.  Neither of us come from families with tons of money or anything.

Laurel, if your family is anything like my FI's, they'll be purchasing their gifts on the way to the shower hahaha.  Not everyone buys gifts off of registries, either... maybe they'd rather give you cash or gift cards so you can get what you want.

  • Thats awesome! I noticed that a lot of my bigger registry items were purchased back in January before the invites went out and before I even finished the list! Now that the invites went out (about 2 weeks ago) nothing else has been bought ): So we'll see..

  • We only registered at BBB and a lot of our stuff has been purchased, including the bigger ticket items. However, none of our plates/bowls have been bought. The stuff isn't even a $60 set- each thing is bought seperately so I don't understand why. The only thing I can think of, is the stuff isn't available at a lot of BBB locations. So, maybe people didn't want to deal with it being shipped to their closest store?

I have my first shower this sunday and my second the following sunday. So, maybe a few of the items will still be purchansed. Otherwise, my FI and I will just get it ourselves.

SNOT!!  JK!!!   We didn't get any of our smaller items either.  But we did get a decent amount of gift cards so we are just going to buy the small things ourselves.  We pretty much got every big ticket item too except our vacuum which was only $100 bucks so we used a gift card and a 20 % off coupon to buy it.

    How exciting!

I noticed something totally different about our registry. People are buying the most random items, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. Like, hand mixer along with hand blender. Is that a weird combo? Also, grill pan and griddle pan. Together. I don't know why, but I find those combinations weird.

  • I have gotten a mix, so far. A few of my aunts who could not attend the shower sent gifts, and they tended to send the larger gifts, I think since they were unable to attend and felt bad about that. At the shower itself, I got a lot of smaller (under $50) gifts from my registry, or just more personal gifts that were not from my registry at all.

  • K8888-- same thing for me as well! Granted, my mom purchased two of the big ticket items, but still.  A lot of our smaller items haven't been touched. My shower is Sunday.

  • Hmm, I guess it's just different for everyone.  I find it interesting for some strange reason.

FI found these BEAUTIFUL Waterford wine glasses at Macys during a sip and scan event and it was the only thing we put on our registry that night.  They're $400!!  We figured we would buy them for our 1 year anniversary if Macy's threw us a discount after the wedding.  Someone actually bought them for us....

It's completely humbling to think someone likes us enough to buy us such a generous gift.

  • Most of the stuff that has been bought on our registry is in the middle price range (which I would expect, since that's usually what I go for when buying!)...my shower is tomorrow night so I am sooo excited!

Side note...FI made me pancakes for breakfast on Tuesday and said "we really need to get a bigger spatula...like one that is made for pancakes".  Ironically, somebody bought the pancake spatula on our Crate and Barrel registry the day before. :)

  • It really is kind of humorous how random registries/gift combinations are.

Ally, isn't it funny to think about some relative of yours going out and saying "I know what I want to buy them - the pancake spatula!!"

The first early wedding gift we got was a two-piece chip and dip bowl. soooo random.

My shower invites actually went out today (my cousin just emailed me about it!) So I am hoping that my registries FINALLY begin to start saying fulfilled. so far, we just have a few random items that we have already received and a couple smaller things that have been purchased.
  • I just stalked my registry. Honestly I do it a few times a week, it's too hard for me to stay away from it. I didn't register for any pricey items, but i have noticed that most of my BBB items have been purchased but only a few items from C&B have been bought. I get that BBB is more convenient because of the number of locations and you can use coupons, but I am more excited to get the C&B items. Any gift is nice though so I'm not going to complain!

I was so tempted this week to add the Vitamix blender to our registry but I realized we never use our current blender so I wouldn't want someone to spend $500 on one for us.
  • I have noticed the most random of things have gone first.  Some small things went as well, btu in a bunch so I have a feeling someone is making a basket of all the small utensils.  I am almost positive invites went out a couple weeks ago and I'm almost positive that my shower is the 12th.  FI's family nevers throws random parties and we are getting together for brunch on the 12th for his aunt and uncle's anniversary, which is totally out of the norm.  So I think that is their coverup for the shower, I had a feeling it was that weekend too because my parents insisted that we couldn't move into the house that weekend.

    Anniversary
  • Lucky you OP! I have a good range of stuff purchased. My family was overly generous at my first shower last weekend (I'll do a post about it later, I haven't had time). We had tried to tell them they shouldn't go crazy since they all got us really nice engagement gifts, but they didn't listen. Someone bought my kitchenaid mixer but I didn't get it yet so I'm really interested to see who it was. The funniest thing so far is the person who bought 12 napkins and 11 napkin rings! I'm sure the store just didn't have 12 but its funny and plus no-one is going to buy just one napkin ring as a gift so I have a feeling I'll end up doing that.

  • I had been doing so good at staying away from it till you asked K8888. Darn you.

I got some measuring cups and some bread pans from my aunt as a birthday gift. so that doesnt count. The rest is incredibly random. 2 towels, bathmat, and shower curtain that was for the guest bathroom that we are changing anyways; 2 of our place settings, and a couple other random items.
Also- 2 of our fiestaware were purchased, which is super exciting.

But my first shower is next weekend, so I dont think anyone will be buying til saturday night anyways. :)

  • I can't wait to see who bought us our crockpot. Like, as soon as the shower invites were sent, it was bought the next day. Like they seriously ran to BBB, I want to see who was eager! I'm also interested in who bought the our cookware & knives.

  • I feel like people buy really random things.  A lot fo our stuff has gotten bought already...except for the really big stuff (vaccum and pots and pans set).  FI gets bummed out and keeps saying "Why won't people go in together on it?"  LOL!  I didn't realize he even really wanted them.

  • My family shower was last weekend and I got many many things from our registries. It was a nice mix. I do think I Ned to add more small things for my work shower.
