Clinique all about eyes is really nice. Expensive for a smaller jar, but it does work. I've tried the Garnier roller ball stuff, and I'm not thrilled, but it de-puffs them really well.

For wrinkles or fine lines (just in case you were wondering about specific creams) - my mom uses (and I steal when I'm there) the ANEW stuff from Avon. It works amazingly. Warning if you have any allergies to fragrances, it might not be the best stuff to try - although it smells awesome. The face cream (day and night) I'd also recommend.

You only need a tiny dot for eye cream.  Put it on the back of your hand and then use your ring finger to apply as it is your weakest finger.

I use a few, I find that changing seems to work best for me.  I like Dr Laura something from Bath and Body Works, something I got really cheap here, eye brightener from L'Oreal (I think).  I also have a night cream that I use from a co I used to work for.

Someone recommended Philosophy's Help Me, which I have but I haven't used it consistently enough to see if it makes a difference.

I got a RoC anti-wrinkle/retinol cream at CVS that works well.  I have sensitive skin, so it tends to dry me out, but it's definitely effective for smoothing and tightening.  I use just a little around my eyes and forehead.

Oprah likes Philosophy's Hope in a Jar for moisturizing :)  It was on her favorite's show.

I've used RoC as well and liked it, thanks MH!
I'm clearly an eye cream  Hoor!

By the way, RoC is in drugstores, but it definitely is not cheap!

philosophy's hope in a tube works pretty well...that's just for hydration and fine lines.

Jackie--what do you want it to do?  Just anti wrinkle, or dark circles/puffiness?  Generally speaking, you'd want an eye gel for dark circles/puffiness (and if you keep it in your fridge, it helps with puffiness even better) and an eye cream for hydration and anti-wrinkle.

NCV--you're not alone being an eye cream hoar.  I've tried I think 5 or 6?  I'm a bit addicted to skin care.  And makeup.  It's kind of sad.

hahahaha  well non-topical things you can do is drink more water and don't pull on your eye.  If you pull sideways on your eye when you go to put on eyeliner, that can actually cause crows feet.  If you have to pull on your eye to get eyeliner on thin and straight, pull UP from your eyebrow instead.

I keep my eye open when I put eyeliner on, but yeah pulling on your eye can do that.  The skin around your eye is super delicate.  That's why you need a separate eye cream, because it also doesn't have any pores so it doesn't absorb moisturizer.

RA- you are my hero! Will now be applying eyeliner differently. Is this just knowledge you had or gained from working at Ulta. B/c you may end up being my make-up question guru.

I did theatre for 13 years... so it's 13 years of theatre make up and 4 years at Ulta.  We get a lot of MUA that freelance for different comapnies, and I learn a lot from them.  We go through a lot of training (I have to sit through traiining videos 4 times a year).  But I'm also a sponge.  I am a vault of useless knowledge.

Well I will put that vault of "useless" knowledge to good use! I put useless in quotes b/c I don't find it very useless - anything that prevents wrinkles isn't!! lol! I worked for Clinique for a few months, and became a sponge for anything my counter manager cared to impart, but it was only for a few months....

Clinique All About Eyes rich- super hydrating

Ole Henriksen- Ultimate Lift Eye gel

I alternate between these two every night, the OH you can get at Sephora ($38) but I love how it firms and kinda plumps up that area.

The Avon stuff that comes with Upper Eye Gel and Under Eye cream, that stuff rules! I never used Avon until my daughter got into it, must admit I love their eye cream!  They also ake Crows Feet Corrector, (yes that's really what its called!) I haven't tried it, so can't say how well it works.)  May your face be wrinkle free!
  • There is actually no reason to have a seperate eye cream.  I've done extensive research on this- I've even had the opportunity to consult with reknowned dermatologist Dr. Jeff Benabio, and he agrees- eye cream is a marketing gimmick.

The skin around your eyes is some of the thinnest on your body, and as such, it actually absobs product easier than skin on other area. Yet, if you peek at any eye cream ingredient list, you'll see the very same additives that make up facial moisturizers.

When it comes down to it, save your money (eye creams sell for, on average, about triple the price of a equal ammount of facial moisturizer). Any well-formulated facial moisturizer that works well on the fine lines & wrinkles on your face will do the same on your eye area. The only ingredient that is FDA approved to actually *reduce* lines is retinol. You can find it in OTC products from brands like ROC and Neutrogena, but since drugstore prodcuts aren't regulated the same as prescription ones, there's no guarantee that over the counter formulations will be effective. If you truly want to do what's going to be most effective, ask your doctor for a retinol prescription.

Be aware: retinol has an adjustment period where you may notice redness and peeling, so you DO NOT want to start using it a week before your wedding! Any skin care takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks to show results, so you'll want to begin at least a couple months before your event. Also, make sure you're wearing daily sunscreen- retinol makes you more sensitive to the sun (this goes for over the counter as well as prescription). Besides, the sun is what causes lines to begin with!

NOTE: I am a Cincinnati bride that is currently planning a wedding for this October, which is why I happen to be surfing the forums. I also happen to be a professional makeup artist & beauty editor, so I thought I'd chime in while I'm here :)
