ceremony music, readings etc

For all those who got married on the beach/beach house/ not in a church, how did you sit down and figure out your ceremony? Any good ceremony songs you guys used that you liked? What about any readings?

I worked on the vows, readings and order of ceremony with my officiant.  Then we discussed the songs I wanted and he suggested places for them.

I'm having a violinist and they gave me a list of songs.  I'm using Rev. Jay like Maria did, and I know he works with you on choosing the order, readings, and vows.  We're using the Corinthians reading that you typically hear at weddings.

We aren't using any traditional wedding songs. we are having a fun, upbeat ceremony. Visualize the atmosphere you want during the ceremony and choose songs and readings base off of that.

We ended up doing some traditional songs out of lack of finding better things to go with.  We are using a poem called "Together" by William Gannett.  We still may include another poem called "Friendship" by Thoueau.  Depends on how long the ceremony ends up being.

I did it all myself by looking at a bunch of ceremonies online and playing with their orders a little. We had two readings, so I made sure to spread them out so they weren't back to back.  We did one before our vows and one right after.

We only used two songs- Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the way in and Stuck Like Glue on the way out.

My FI did this all himself!  FI's dad is our Rev. so, like Teach, he scoured the internet and made his own.  He did a great job!!  I've seen several beach ceremonies have a reading from the Velveteen rabbit.  We're also using a reading for Corinthians.

Rev Jay had a ceremony prep form he gave us and then he put it in the order that made the most sense and we could have changed it but didn't- it worked great.  For music we only had a song playing while everyone was getting seated (Love is All Around- REM) and then when I walked out (Man in the Moon Instrumental- REM).  We should have planned for one right after he announced us.  For readings we did Love by Roy Croft and Blessing of the Hands- not sure who it's by- I'd have to look it up.  If you go to Rev Jays website he has a lot of resources on there even if you aren't using him http://myouterbanksweddings.com/resources/

Thanks everyone! You guys were a lot of help. My FI cousin is marrying us and he actually got his justice of the peace license for us so he could marry us, so he is kinda new at this too. I am going to try all the websites you guys said! Thanks so much
