    Me! I'm looking to have a small wedding of about 25 ppl in April or May of 2012. My fiancé and I are going down mid-July to check out Mallard's Marsh, The Pearl and possibly Aqua S. I'm looking forward to the trip! Then hopefully my planning can really get rollin'! :) Anyone have any feedback about those spaces?

    I haven't booked anything yet! We are looking for a rental home that can host ~70-100 people for an outdoor reception. He wants ocean front, I want something with a lawn.. We still havent set a date yet so I have plenty of time :)

    Have you checked out Pelican's Landing?  Looks like it may be the best of both worlds!


    My favorite so far is the Pier House at the Hilton in Kitty Hawk.  Fiance isn't terribly excited by it, but I'm hoping once he sees it in person, he'll like it!

    We haven't either, we're going down in September, looking at The Whalehead Club, Jeanette's Pier and the Sanderling for a Sept. 2012 wedding.

    We are doing ours at Aqua S!  It is beautiful with great views and good food!  And the owner Lynette is really nice.

    I saw a gorgeous home on the 18th hole of the Curritcuk Golf Club that holds large events and let me tell ya, this house was gorgeous!  I can't recall the mgmt company but Im sure I could find it.  Just let me know if you are interested....very posh and luxurious type of home with a huge rear brick patio area with a pool.  Very nice!  :)

    Pelican's landing is pretty cool.  It has a lawn AND is oceanfront.  I don't think they have a pool though.  I was sad about that when I looked.  Plus, my family wants to be in Nags Head.  Have to go with those that are paying on somethings ;)

    there's also a really cool house rented by Twiddy.  It has a lawn, but not ocean front.  It looked very reasonably priced.  The name is Family Ties

    Watch out for the special event fees on rental homes though.  They can really up your budget.

    Thanks for the advice everyone! Sorry for the delay in response (I have been studying for my pharmacy licensure boards and havent been on the board in a while!!)
    obxlaurak and keb2482: Pelican's landing is on my list thanks for mentioning it
    @OBX: If you can find the name of the house or management company that would be amazing but i dont want to be burdensome! (Ive seen some pictures of the golf course it looks like a beautiful setting)

    I have not booked a venue yet.  I have looked at the Sanderling which ended up looking perfect just a little to pricey for my budget.  I also looked at the Whalehead Club but it was already booked for my date (June 2, 2012).  I have now moved on to looking at event homes which I believe I have narrowed it down to 2.  The Love Boat on Hatteras and West Ridge in Duck.  Does anyone know anything about these houses? Positives, Negatives anything to make the decision a little more easy!

    I'm pretty sure Hibiscus got married at The Love Boat last year....you can page her on the board or send her a PM.  She is full of great advice :)
