Truexpressions Photography Opinions?

Hey y'all

I just won a free photographer for my wedding from a raffle at the Southern Bridal Show, and I was wondering if anyone has ever worked with Truexpressions Photography and what your opinion of them is. From what I've seen on their website some of their stuff looks great and some looks like I could take it with my camera.

Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

No Experience with them, sorry :(  Maybe you could use them for something else(TTD, Engagements, Family Portraits, Etc) if you aren't too fond of their work to have them shoot your wedding day????

    I see major red flags.

    - Images are poorly exposed and composed
    - Little to no editing on the images, or selective coloring which is super outdated
    - Facebook page hasn't been updated since December 2010
    - The fashion in the photos looks dated (mid 2000s or earlier) which tells me they aren't getting recent work or updating their site
    - One of their wedding packages includes an iPad 2?!?!?! why??? who pays for the service plan? This is beyond weird to me and makes me think one of them might work at the Apple store and be using their discount to randomly include in packages to sweeten the deal
    - On top of this wedding "giveaway" they're also giving away a free shoot a month? No good photographer should have to give away shoots (or have time to do that) monthly
    - This statement is weird - "Some photographers come out of school and start a business and only do 2 or 3 weddings in a year or 2. A good photographer should be able to reference 4 or 5 different weddings that they have done." What??

This feels really strange to me. I would say they're desperate to get work and build a portfolio. Otherwise they wouldn't be giving away shoots every month and adding all these weird gimicks into their packages. Just my insight as a full time photographer.

It doesn't seem like they make the bride look as good as she can (as photog mentioned, there's definitely little to no editing done to the portraits).  Plus they choose unflattering angles, and their "celebration" pictures look like pictures a high school student takes at prom - nothing interesting or special.  I agree with what Krhoy mentioned; I would probably see if you could use them for something other than your wedding day - you don't want to regret the only lasting tangible memories you have.

    hmmm...

Have you looked at them under the Better Business Bureau?

Is this the right site for that photographer?

If so, it looks like maybe they're just trying to get the biz going. I agree the editing isn't  fantastic. I personally don't think I'd go with them for the most important day of my life. Maybe you'd like to do a different kind of a shoot with them.. TTD, engagement, etc.

This person reminds me of one of my aunts. She does small time pics - simple senior portraits, weddings, and things like that. She didn't go to school for this at all, so it's almost like a hobby job, if that makes sense.

As far as the giveaways, maybe their just trying to build a portfolio and get more experience. Afterall, you can't get better if you don't have any pictures to take in the first place. However, photogbride is right... if the site hasn't been updated in quite some time and they're giving away an ipad (what a strange giveaway).... I'd certainly be nervous about using them.

Thank you everybody! I definitely agree with everything y'all said. My mom, fiance, MOH, and I have talked it over and are deciding to go with another studio that offers a second shot, better quality, and experience at the church the ceremony will be at.
