My parents and I checked out the Hilton Pier House, First Colony Inn, and 108 Budleigh.
-Hilton Pier House - LOVED IT. It's so pretty, so different than other wedding venues, love that the beach and hotel are right there. Robin was so nice and answered all of my questions.
-First Colony Inn - Yeah, they forgot about my appointment. I'm sorry, but if you are trying to earn my business there is no excuse.
-108 Budleigh - I didn't have an appointment but figured we'd drive over to Manteo and see if we could look around. I love it! It's gorgeous and all of you Budleigh Brides will be very happy.
All that being said, it seems as if we may have our wedding in Delaware now. While I would love, love, love to get married on my beloved Outer Banks, financially it doesn't make sense for us right now. We could have a 100 person wedding at the Pier House for the same price as a 160 person wedding at the venue we like in Delaware. We already were struggling with cutting back on the guest list and after a long talk we have come to the conclusion that it's more important to us to have our loved ones be able to attend than to have it in our dream location. I did make fiance promise that we do a day (week, month) after session on the OBX so we could get some great pictures of us.
One idea we are toying with is having a small wedding (15ish people) here on the OBX and then a reception a few weeks later in Delaware. However, I am hesitant because I want the whole day. I feel like having the two things to plan would be a nightmare.
So that is that. In a perfect world we'd be able to afford a larger wedding down here, but such is life. For me, the most important thing is is that we are married and have fun.
