Nags Head beach ceremony - chairs, etc.

I have a question for the Nags Head brides who are getting married on the beach.  What are you doing about chairs?  From what I understand, only 20 chairs can be put on the beach and NO benches.  According to Nags Head info., this is for safety reasons. 

Are you going to use more chairs and hope all goes well?  What if you have 20+ that need to have a chair? 

I am so concerned as this was never communicated to us when we clearly made it a point to tell our rental co. that we would be having a wedding on the beach.  I guess they do not care.

I am not having a wedding in Nags head but I saw a cute idea (somewhere on the knot) to have big pillows to sit on for the kids.  I've also seen where people sit on picnic-type blankets.

When we were out last month there was a wedding on the beach in Nags Head near the Nags Head Inn with double the chairs (4 rows of 10 across).  I'm guessing if you don't have them set up all day you might be able to get away with it.  Our chairs were only on the beach for an hour total.

I am awaiting a call from the chair rental co.  One person told me that all the town can do is fine you.  Apparently, the lifeguards call in the violators.  How is that their job?  Wonder if they are on duty 9/16 ?

We planned to have a short and sweet standing ceremony.  We will have maybe two or three rows of chairs for those who cannot stand that long, including my mom and FMIL who will each hold one of our children during the ceremony.  My son, who will be 3 by the wedding will be the ring bearer and my 10 month old daughter will be carried down the aisle in an adorable dress as the flower girl

The chair rental co. just told me that they have never heard of anyone being fined for too many chairs.  She said that common sense needs to prevail when setting up the chairs by leaving a W I D E aisle and to not set up until as late as possible.  Then just make sure the chairs and all decor are removed ASAP after the ceremony. 

We have some strong guys who can handle this.

boderboo....I'm in the same situation as you. We only rented 20 chairs though. Some of our guests are going to be standing and I'm okay with that(hope they will be to). The ceremony shouldn't be more than 15 mins; hope the sand isn't too hot.

You could also bring large towels or beach chairs for other guests... those are standard items on a beach so I cant image getting in trouble for them

We were married last week on the beach in Rodanthe.  Since it is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, we were not allowed to set up chairs at all, except for the elderly and disabled.  We only set up 4 chairs for our parents and everyone else stood.  The cermony was only about 15-20 minutes.  I was a little worried but no one complained. The cermony was at 10am and the sand was not hot yet.  I just told everyone to wear flip flops. We had a lot of kids and even they did not complain.  Not having to set up chairs made the set up alot easier and quicker

I just had a few questions...How much were yall paying for chairs? I will only need like 15...And how did yall pick a spot? Im getting married there in August and Im not sure were we should go to find a spot. Does anyone know of any good spots that dont get too crouded? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
