Welcome to the North Carolina--Outer Banks board and congratulations on your recent engagement.  It's an exciting process to plan a wedding and whether you are only a few hours away or several states away, we are here to assist you with all of your wedding planning details.

The links below are invaluable resources to get you started in your planning process.  These links will provide you with a complete list of vendors which includes everything from venues, catering, photography and more and can also answer some of the frequently asked questions.

**If you're a vendor looking to advertise your company, contact The Knot for advertising space.  Vendors are not allowed to post on boards.  If you do create a post that is advertising, I'm going to have to delete any thread or post that is a blatant advertisement for your services and you will be banned as a vendor as well. **

Several of the Knotties on our board have recently been married on the Outer Banks and they are a wealth of knowledge as well, so please feel free to ask any questions that may come to mind.

Here are a few fun facts about the Outer Banks:
  • The Outer Banks has some celebrity connections.  The Wright Brothers began air travel in Kitty Hawk, Andy Griffith resides in Manteo, and the pirate, Blackbeard was born in Ocracoke.
  • The Outer Banks is the 3rd largest destination for weddings in the U.S., third only to Hawaii and Las Vegas
  • Lighthouses are popular landmarks in the Outer Banks and the NC coast has lighthouses every 40 miles apart along the enire coast.
  • Why is it Jockey’s Ridge?  It used to be a horse racetrack.

We wish you the best of luck in your planning process and if there is anything you need, just ask!
