Wildfire/Smoke?

I'm seeing air quality alerts just about every day now.  Has anyone heard what the real deal is?  I can't imagine that people are actually staying inside...  I've just been sticking my head in the sand but one of our guests called and asked me about it today.  I wasn't sure what to tell them.

Was just there on Friday for the day.  The smoke and smell would come and go.  It seemed to be worse in Nags Head and Kill Devil Hiils, at least on Friday. However I did have a firiend who was there towards the end of the week and she said it wasn't too bad, her house is in Kill Devil Hills.  Guess it depnds ont the wind.  Pray for a good rain!

I was there about two weeks ago for the week and there were warnings then but we honestly didn't smell/notice anything.  We stayed in the Corolla area (Pine Island to be exact) and if it weren't for a few locals saying something, I wouldn't have noticed at all.  Apparently there are some wetlands/swamp like area that are on fire and they can not control it, but I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Thanks!  It's so hard being this far away because you can't see anything for yourself and hear/read all the conflicting information.  My head's going back in the sand. :)

I just got back last night and it was hit or miss.  One night my cousin decided o keep her baby inside because it was pretty bad.  We were in Nags Head.  By morning it was competely clear.  It really is dependent of the winds.

This was just posted.  You might want to keep checking with this station for more information.

I know. :(  We've been watching.  I know the area needs rain and there's some in the forecast now.  I'm just hoping it speeds up and gets out of there before Friday.

It's hit or miss and can change pretty quickly as the wind changes.

The one good thing is that I haven't noticed it much on the beach at all!
