RSVPs coming in- eek!

We sent out 107 invitations for the wedding. This may sound crazy now, but looking at our list, we were expecting around 125 'attending' responses (including about 20 kids).  We are at 94 attending right now, but only off of 38 returned RSVPs! Am I crazy for totally freaking out? My mom (she is receiving the RSVPs) seems to think most people who know they're coming responded quickly, but that people who don't plan to attend might just be slacking because they aren't coming.
Anyone have any input on RSVPs?

Like your mom said....the ones that know they are coming are the ones to respond first so I wouldn't worry too much.  A lot of people that cannot come, don't even think they need to rsvp...which can be frustrating.  Once you reach your deadline, you can start calling people to remind them to send in their rsvp.

It's probably a little too early for you estimate the final head count right now.  It will all work out :)

Some RSVP early if they know they're coming, or don't even bother to send in the card because they've told you they're coming.  Then you'll have some trickle in.  You'll have the hold outs that wait until the last minute.  Some waited to see the feasibility of travel, etc. because of the destination.  I just had 2 last minute RSVPs last week because there are people that are still trying to figure out a way to make it with work, etc.  When you set your RSVP date, keep in mind mailing time.  Most people will see that date as "the day I can drop it into the mail date."  Not when it arrives to you by.

Definitely agree with PPs - same thing happened to me and all of my friends who have gotten married!  The yes's come in first -- and fast!  The maybes and nos trickle in until the last possible minute, and try to wait until after the last possible minute if they are really procrastinators.  :)
