West Ridge Event Home in Duck

Hi! Has anyone rented "West Ridge" in Duck for an event? It is an event/rental home that rents "by owner," We are renting it for our rehearsal dinner May 19th. I was wondering if any former brides used this home and if so, what did you do about excess parking? The driveway fits about 7 cars but we are expecting about 25 plus cars. Also how was the outside lighting at night? Do I need extra lighting? Any other tips, advice for this home?? Thanks in advance!

I can't recall of anyone on the board using that home since I have been around, but some of the other Knotties have rented in Duck before, so they may be able to offer some ideas for parking

I would ask the owners if they happen to have a pic of the home lit up at night....I am sure if it is in Duck, it will be nothing short of beautiful!  You could always use clear white lights and wrap the strands around the back porch posts, railing, etc., just to give the area a little extra oomphhhh

We are renting an event home in Duck. As for parking my family's rental is across the street so we are using their drive way as well. I should have looked more into parking before I was set on this house but it was perfect for us so we are going to make it work. First we are asking people to carpool to decrease the amount of cars.  We are using The Proper Setting to set up our ceremony chairs and decor on the beach and they are the ones that found the only parking lot in Duck that is ok to park cars at. Erik from the Proper Setting as been one of the best vendors to work with, finding our beach location and helping with this parking issue. He also let us know that Duck is pretty strict on parking and enforcing parking rules they ahve.My FI and I are visiting in  the middle of March so we can check this out and make sure it will work for us. We tried looking on Google Maps for the parking they are talking about but I cannot find it or it was paved after the google maps people shot that area. Lighting I am unsure about but I will take some pictures and I can let you know when we get back! Hope that helps!

We're using an event home in Corolla, but have a similar parking situation--lots of cars, no street parking, and no close parking lots. We have 4 houses all right together that we're going to use to park as many cars as we can (in the grass even--but not along the street because apparently even if the car has all 4 wheels off the street it will still be ticketed for parking along the street?). We were also told that we could use whatever houses our rental company has in the neighborhood but aren't rented out. We're late May too and the agent we're working with thinks that there will still be a few unrented to use. RIght now there are 7 that aren't booked. Might be worth running this idea by your rental agent.

Thanks - helpful to know about parking and un-rented homes - this might be worth investigating for us, too.  Our guests are starting to rent homes around our event home, and my hope is that many of them can walk on over to the wedding!
