Wedding under 10k ideas

I know this question probably has been asked a LOT of times.. But I am really struggling how to do a wedding for 50 under 10,000. I looked at venues and for a wedding this size I thought I could rent an event home and have it for the whole week for the same price! Photography is very important to us, so Im having a hard time compromising with that. So what are your suggestions for a budget friendly venue? My other question is about catering for event homes. The only full service caterer I found that includes linens glassware and cleanup was Kellys Catering. Are there any other caterers out there that have that service? we are planning for a May wedding next year.. I just cant seem to figure out where I can cut costs! Please help if you can.:

Re: Wedding under 10k ideas

  • Hi!

    Yes, this is very doable.
    I'm renting Angler's Inn for a week = 5k
    Catering for 75 people through Dawn's Catering = 1200
    Rentals we had about 500
Table Linens we purchased plus chair sashes= 200
Photographer we're bringing with us from Raleigh = 700 and this included engagement, bridal shots, family photography on the beach the day prior, hotel/ travel fee and wedding day all day coverage giving us all shots edited and not edited with rights to do as we please
Minister- 300 Scott from repeataftermeobx very nice guy
    Dove release - 300
Have probably spent roughly 200 on decor, bought a ton of globe lights to string around
Plan on doing fresh hyndrangeas that my aunt is going to arrange for me
A friend is bringing a cake from Raleigh the day before the wedding to keep the cost low- got a beautiful 80 slice two tier cake, a 10 inch birthday cake for a guest, and two dozen cupcakes for 180$.
Dress 300 found a clearance dress I love- got lucky
Hair/Makeup- Bombshells 110 for me, and I'm giving it to my girls, mom and future mother in law as a gift.

If you're into being frugal you will find a way, we have been couponing up supplies. One consideration with an event home is parking. To make this easier my parents generously rented a house across the street for their siblings to stay in- that was an additional 1500 but they didn't consider that a wedding expense.

It just worked out for me because I felt better spending that much money on a week long thing where we got to spend lots of time with our guests versus a few hours at a venue. That is just what is working for us so far :)

  • We had around 40 guests and managed to stay under 10K including our house for the week!!!! We choose to go with an Event Home. I am so happy that we did. Yes we had the additional event home fee ($1500 I believe) but that was cheaper than going through a venue. Since we didnt have a lot of guests, renting tables and chairs wasn't a big expense. I actually bought my linens, which saved so much!! We used Chris Neito for photography, he is very reasonably priced and I really enjoyed his work. He isn;t from the OBX but is willing to travel and he was there ALL DAY!  We used Enchanted Cuisine as our caterer, Gwen was a delite to work with. She gave us ideas and helped narrow down our menu to fit in our budget. She came by the house the day before to go over placement of things which was a huge help!! Cakes by Robin, made our cake and it was delicious. She does everything out of her home and her prices were the cheapest we found. She only uses buttercream frosting, which was ok with us, since its our favorite! Also, consider DIYing a lot of things, including STD's, Invites, Favors, anything you can think of.
I would recommened using an event home to anyone on a tight budget. Plus you dont have to worry about getting there on time! ha Our ceremony took place on the beach in front of the house. We had a very relaxed informal style wedding and it was perfect. Just what we were looking for.
  • When is your wedding? That might help you narrow down your choice.. we were originally going to do an event home, but since we're getting married in July the rentals are at their max prices... also consider an off day to get married. For vendors we have looked at prices are MUCH cheaper Mon-Thurs, there's a spike for Fri and Sun, and Sat is the max price

You should check out 11th hour events. They offer all inclusive wedding packages (including the venues for ceremony and reception) for different prices. My fiance and I are using them for our October wedding. We are having 50 ppl and the total price is $8000.00.

  • I am looking to spend under 12k for about 140 people. I would love a waterfront venue. Anyone have any suggestions?
