Wedding License Clarification

I have called the Reg. of Deeds office in Manteo several times and I keep getting the same lady that seems to be terribly confused by my questions. Let me ask you and see if they make sense and maybe you can help me answer them....

1. We are getting married July 6th. Since this is the holiday week, will the office be open on Thursday, July 5th?

2. When the license is returned to the office, is our pastor the one that must we return it, or can we return it? (Pastor will be leaving on Sunday.)

Anyone know these answers for sure? Am I asking them weird?

I don't know the answer to your first question, but the answer to your second question is you or your pastor may return the marriage license.  That is was the lady told me when we went and applied for ours

The Register of Deeds office will only be closed on Wednesday, July 4th.  They will be open on Thursday, July 5th.

We just got our marriage license last week and they (Currituck Co) told us the officiant has to return it, either by mail or in person. Not sure if it's the same in all counties.
