Jennette's Pier Brides

My fiance and I just booked our wedding reception venue at Jennette's Pier for next April and I was wondering if there were any other brides that are planning on having their wedding there? How has it been to work with them thus far? Where is everyone having their ceremonies at?

    Congrats....absolutely beautiful venue!!

They are brand new and their grand opening is in May, so you will probably be the one that future brides will be consulting about advice ;)  Either way, you made a great choice....just beautiful!

We are getting married on the beach right outside of our beach home and the reception will be at 108 Budleigh in Manteo

I am also having my reception at the new Jennette's Pier next April!  What date did you get?  Consider yourself fortunate because they are booking up fast - we tried to get a date in the fall of this year (and this was back in December) and they were already booked for every single weekend in 2011!

The people at the pier have been excellent to work with so far.  I am local and know most of the ladies personally and know for a fact you will not be disappointed.

Since I grew up in Manteo, we have decided to have our ceremony at Mt. Olivet UMC in Manteo.  It is the church that I have grown up in.  Many brides are deciding to have their ceremonies on the beach right there at the pier.  Also, for a fee, and if your wedding is on the smaller side, you can have it on the pier itself I believe.

    good luck plannin!

Thanks so much! I have had my eye on the pier since I heard about it last year. We are having our wedding april 21st. Right now we are thinking of doing the ceremony at Bodie Island Lighthouse since our wedding is on the bigger side (150).  Does anyone know if the kitchen they have there at the pier will have an ice machine? I would assume they do but didnt know if anyone knew for sure. As far as renting glassware for the reception, how did everyone go about doing that and who had the cheaper prices?

I would imagine they would have an ice machine on premises since there will be a cafe in the downstairs area.  Im sure someone there could answer this for you.

It all depends on whether or not your caterer will include this for you, some do and some dont.  Also, I have personally found that renting the items through the caterer is actually more expensive than doing it yourself.

I believe there are only 2 (correct me if Im wrong) companies that handle rentals in the Outer Banks area and that is Metro Rental and Ocean Atlantic Rentals, which is who we are using.  Heather and Joe are absolutely fabulous to work with at Ocean Atlantic.

I am also having my reception at Jennette's Pier.  Our wedding date isn't until June 30, 2012.  It seems so far away.  The ladies have been very nice and have given me recommendations for ceremony sites.  They did not recommend getting married on the beach right next to the pier and I wasn't sure why.(I guess because it will be crowded)  She emailed me some other beach accesses, but I will have about 150 and there will not be enough parking  in the smaller beach accesses.  I am thinking of maybe having the ceremony at Roanoke aquarium on the lawn.  There is plenty of parking and it is overlooking the sound.  You do have to pay a fee for the ceremony at the Roanoke Island aquarium.
I am a little saddened that it seems like the cost of the rental of pier included all most nothing.  You have to get linens, glassware, and even rent chairs for the ceremony separated.  I thought that at least white tables linens would be included in the cost of renting the venue.  Also, there will be no dance floor... you have to rent one.  I am very excited about the venue and think it will be beautiful, just not so excited about all the extra cost, when I feel that some it if could be included!  Any suggestions ladies?

good to know all this. What was the fee for using the aquariums lawn? that was something we were also looking into.  Yes the expenses are adding up as far as rental equipment.  We are actually thinking of getting the nice reusable plastic cups with our names and wedding date printed on them and using those as cups/wedding favors.
I dont know about you other pier brides but my fiance and I have decided to not use too many flowers since the view will really be the best part of the venue.  Who does everyone recommend for flowers? I have heard the Harris Teeter down there does them but didnt know if they delivered/set the flowers up. Any ideas?

I have had many friends use Harris Teeter for their flowers and have heard nothing but wonderful things about their floral dept.  I am not sure about the delivering/setting up though.  I am thinking about ordering my flowers from them or ordering from wholesale.  My grandmother and her friends from the Roanoke Island Garden Club will be doing all of the arranging.

I'm with you on the simplicity of the flowers.  The view/atmosphere at the pier speaks for itself, so there is no need to take away from that with flowers.  We are doing simple simple simple :-)

Just another tip, I've heard that SugarSnap, Bells & Whistles, and the Embellishers do wonderful work with florals.

I am planning on having my wedding there as well, although my date is June 9, 2012 and we will be having our ceremony on the beach next to the pier. We went and visited this weekend and there was a couple setting up there for a July 4th wedding and they were setting up the ceremony in between the 2 walkways leading up to the pier. Being it July 4th weekend I scoped out the area thinking it would be REALLY busy that weekending on the beach and actually to the left it was relatively clear so that firmed my decision to have the ceremony right there. My guests will be using the private entrance but since I plan on having a cocktail hour on the balcony and do not want them walking through the reception I am going to have them walk through the bottom floor aquarium to the outside stair case and come up to the balcony. Then everyone will be escorted into the reception. Just curious, what are your colors? I was originally going to do purples, but after seeing the inside I changed my colors to tan, blues, and teals to go with the decor already inside. Good luck planning!

I just booked my wedding at Jennette's Pier today for June 1st, 2013! I am super excited, but I am really nervous because I just heard we are only allowed to have 25 chairs on the beach, and I have about 60 guest. Anyone have any advice for me on what I could do with this situation?

    Thanks :)
