Ceremony Location

My fiance and I are planning a wedding for September 2012. We found an event home that we really like, however it is not ocean front. The event home company stated the beach is about a seven minute walk, and there is no parking. I could not imagine my entire wedding party walking to the beach for my wedding. My question is how do you pick out a location for the ceremony. Do you just pick a random location on the beach or are their specifc locations for beach weddings? Also the location would need parking as well. This is starting to become real complicated. Please help!!!!

Congratulations and welcome to the board!  The ladies on the is board are very helpful and can answer most questions you may have.

What part of the island is this on?  You can always use the Public Beach Access...that takes care of no walking for the BP and takes care of guests parking as well.  There are no specific beach wedding spots....most people do it right outside of their home or use the public beach access.

Let me know where this event home is and I will help finding the closest beach access for you.  Are you having the reception at the event home too or elsewhere?

Sooooo.....tell us a little about yourself.  How did you and FI meet?  Proposal story?  Wedidng colors or theme?  Do you like pizza?  ;)

My fiance and I have know each other since we were little children. He is actually best friends with my cousin. We started dating in March of last year and he proposed in March of this year.

The event home is located in Rondathe. My plan is to get married on the beach, and the reception will be held poolside at the event home. My wedding is very small about 35 people on the guest list, and there is no wedding party. I want something very small and intimate. I want a tropical beachy theme with bright colors pink, lime, orange, and yellow. I am my own wedding planner so any suggestions you have would be helpful.

Ohhhh I love those colors!  Very fun and festive....and of course tropical :)

A cute theme would be Hibiscus flowers since they are so tropical.  For our STD's, I included little starfish above the name's and we are carrying the starfish theme throughout the wedding.  Nothing too overdone, just a little here and there.  A lot can be done with clear strands of lights....drape them over anything that stands still and waaaa-laaaaa, you have now created a very romantic feel to the wedding without spending a lot of money.  Putting floating candles or balloons in the pool would be a great way to add a splash of color to the reception.

I have been to Rodanthe but not quite as familiar as I am with Nags Head.  I would call the rental company and ask them where the closes public beach access is to your event home....start there and see what you can come up with.  Let me know if that gets you a solution, but if not, then we will forge ahead and figure this out :)

I love the feel of a small and intimate wedding.  We started out that way, but we both have a lot of family so small turned into 75, but I am just happy to have everyone together.

Have you looked into any vendors yet?  If not, find the thread I posted "Info for the Newer OBX brides" I posted a lot of different links that will help you with the planning process.  Like I said, the ladies on this board are the BEST so feel free to ask any questions or advice along the way :)
