What would be the best day to get married on?

Like I said in my previous post, we are only expecting about 10 people to our wedding and we are going to have the reception at my family's beach house they will rent.

We are trying to pick the best day to have the wedding on. We figured a Thursday would be best, since most rentals run Saturday-Saturday. If it were a friday, we would have to clean everything up and pack up everything to leave the next morning... might not be too fun.

But what about our honeymoon? We are planning on honeymooning at OBX the week following the wedding, and our families will be vacationing the week prior. If we have the wedding on a Thursday, there will be an issue with finding a beachhouse we can get into on a Thursday (or more probable, a Wednesday so that it would be ready for us without having to bother with it on the wedding day). Since it's in late September (which seems to be off-season for a lot of properties I'm looking at), would it be okay just to worry about it later in hopes that we can find one that will work with us?

I don't know if any of that made any sense, sorry. ;)
I've never been in charge of booking our vacation houses so it's all new to me.

We were married on a Friday and had similar thoughts trying to get everything worked out.  We ended up splurging and staying two full weeks, so we had the house the week before and after our wedding.

Prior to that, we thought about staying in the Oasis honeymoon suite a few nights until we could check into our rental on the Sunday after our wedding.  That (or any hotel)might work for you on Thursday and Friday after your wedding while you're waiting to check into a house.

You won't be able to book the house until the week after your wedding this year, but I'd go on and scout so you have your top choices picked out.  We booked our June 2011 house in July 2010.  The hotel you won't have to worry about filling up as much, but I'd still go on and get something locked in.

Staying in a hotel is a really good idea.. I feel kind of stupid for not coming up with it. ;)

I'm trying to look at houses, but I just don't know how to narrow it down! There are just too many options. I figured we should at least go ahead and choose a date though, so that we can have some sort of direction. I hate feeling in limbo like this.

So this probably isn't a traditional response but my fiance and I plan on getting married on a Thursday and staying at the beach house with our wedding party that thur/fri night, and then leaving Saturday for the honeymoon. My friend did this last year and it was really nice because they had time to hangout with people after the stress of the wedding was over, and those friends/family that couldn't make it until closer to the wedding. Doesn't sound like what you are looking for, but I had to put it out there!

We will do the same as Valetta.  Except, we are staying two weeks and getting married on the Saturday between the two weeks.  We will stay with family and friends the week before and after the wedding, but will get a honeymoon suite alone on the night of our wedding.  Our situation is a little different though because we will have two kids - one mine, one ours - by then

We did the same as Valetta also.  Got married on Tuesday and hung out with family/friends in the beach house we rented.  We had the master suite so we didn't get a hotel or anything the night of the wedding.  Then we went on a honeymoon after we had gone home for a couple weeks.  We wanted to spend that time with family and friends though even though we were "newlyweds."

I'd also suggest getting a hotel for 1-2 nights until the weekend when you can get into a home.  There may be a rental company that does midweek rentals but that would most likely be for last minute bookings only I am thinking.  You would also probably have more house choices if you waited until Saturday.  Plus, you'd get extra time down there if you waited and you wouldn't lose a night in the house by getting it on Wednesday :)

We plan on doing this as well!  We are so excited to have our friends and fam down, many are coming just on Wed for our Thursday weddding, so we wanted a few days after the wedding to hang out.

We are having ours on a Monday.  We all get into the house on Saturday and that gives us a day and a half to get ready.  I don't want to worry about tan lines or anything so we want to get married right away.

We are getting married on a Friday and doing a Sun-Sun rental so that we have Saturday to relax with friends and family.  What if your parents rented a Sun-Sun, the wedding held on Friday and then you and hubby can check into your own house on Saturday?

Oasis Suites are very very nice and super luxurious!  Have you considered staying at a Bed & Breakfast?  My sister surprised me during the wedding expo weekend and booked The Cameron House Inn over in Manteo, 1 block down from 108 Budleigh and it was sooooo nice!  I swear I may never stay in a hotel ever....loved it!  They just opened their honeymoon suite which is completely separate from the main house....like it's own little cottage, so that may be an idea.

I have the sam thoughts as ldybug.  We are getting married on a Tuesday.  I wanted to not have to worry about tan lines, also I wanted more time to relax after the wedding.  I didn't want to be stressing about the wedding for the whole week, get married, and then have one day to relax.  That's why I chose a Tuesday.  Good luck!
