How to become ordained

We want a friend to marry us next year in the OBX (or where ever we finally decide!).  Has anyone ever heard of Universal Life Church?

I've heard of it. I was actually watching a wedding show, cant remember which one. But they didnt have anyone to marry them so their planner went online and did something through universal life church and ended up marrying them!!!!
Let me know what you find out.

When I was looking into doing this, I was told it's not allowed in NC.  It's a really gray area in a lot of states, but the bottom line I was given is that you can't do it in NC.

I looked into this for my wedding, but ended up hiring someone. I emailed with several government workers about whether this is allowed in NC (i can't remember their titles). They would not give a straight answer. They said they can't say yes or no, they can only say it must be an ordained minister.
I think your best bet is to call the universal life church and ask them for info.

Universal Life Church isn't recognized in NC.  My best friend was married last June.  She wanted a friend to officate so he was ordained on Universal Life Church.  He still officiated but they made it legal at the magistrate a few days before the ceremony.  So that's an option for you.

Here I changed my name and now I'm changing locations so I guess it doesn't matter now.  We just cannot make up our minds... or it's more me!

I've went from looking here at home, to NC to GA, then to NC again and now back here.  Our children are the "problem"  My father will not travel for a destination wedding and he is the only one I trust with my older children.  So, back to square one, but I'm still lurking because I really want to get married on the beach and in the Outer Banks!
