Must VENT!!! (long)

Ok so first dance lesson this morning went extremely well.  I'm very excited and happy to see the final results.  The tux fitting also went well which surprised me.  I've been less than impressed with Al's Formalwear.  I'm sure there's a post somewhere of my vent from that back in October.

So to the venting today - first we got stuck in over an hour of stopped traffic on the way home from the tux fitting due to a hazmat spill on the interstate.  Sucks, but not the end of the world.  I was remembering your FI's lovely outlook that things could be worse during this, Mark.

While stuck FI got a phone call from his dad about planning a Christmas get together.  This is the first Christmas since his parents divorced and there's a lot of drama dealing with his Dad.  So with said phone call, there was lots of drama, basically his dad is all caught up with his new girlfriend and her family and is too bothered to spend time with his kids and grandkids.  FI was very upset and a heated conversation took place.  I think they have it resolved to still get together just on a different day.  That's FI's venting.

My venting is in regards to our officiant.  This is probably what I get for finding them on the internet since we are getting married in Colorado while living in Oklahoma  They have been wonderful and very professional to this point while also being very nicely priced.  They have several packages you can purchase from basic to fully personalized and from only conversing over email to meeting in person.  I bought a middle of the road package of emails and phone conversations with a slightly personalized service.

Our final payment to them is due December 7th.  I've had this bookmarked on my calendar and was waiting to make the payment until today.  I've never received any phone calls and I also had to email the officiant a few weeks ago since it had been a few months since our last emails just to get the final copy of our wording.  Nothing major.  Today I got my third invoice in the last 10 days requesting payment due by the 7th.  I am so freaking irritated/upset.  It might have something to do with all of the drama from earlier.  But we aren't late in payment and I feel like they are being very money grabby acting like a collection agency emailing me every 5 days.

I apologize for any run-on sentences.  I tried to make this as short and to the point as possible.  I'm sure it's terrible long.  But I just had to get that off my chest.  So now I'm debating making the payment today or waiting until the 7th.  That is why I logged in to my email today, to get the link to make the payment online to them.

  • Wow I am sorry your officant is so many hungry. I would be mad too. Just out of spite I would pay them on the 7th if I were you. They don't derserve an early payment.

  • I would submit a payment with a note asking to be called as soon as possible. They need to know you aren't happy, bc you are spending a lot of money with them, so your happiess is pretty damn important. If they don't meet your standards, then I wouldn't submit a second payment.

    Sorry about all the drama!
  • = (
I totally understand how you feel. With a non wedding related thing though.
I'm sorry that they are being so money grabby. = ( I agree with the PP. Pay them on the 7th and inform them that you aren't happy! Good luck!

I hope one day I can have her outlook on life....:)

I'm sorry to hear things aren't going well.
  • Bummer! I think you should call your officiant and talk to them about it, but take tonight and cool down before you do....

As for the family drama. I know that sucks.... unfortunately it's unavoidable. I hope it all works out for you so that you and your FI have a great holiday.
  • Thanks.  I did take the time to calm down.  I plan on calling them tomorrow.  We'll see how it goes before I make the payment.  So far this has been my only major upset vendor-wise.  It just really set me off. Thanks for letting me vent.  :)

  • Good luck! As others say, I would wait until the 7th to fully pay. Anyway, I don't have any advice on the FFIL stuff. I know it can be upsetting!
