Groomsman out

Yup, that's right the groomsman I posted about before is out. He texted my FI today telling him there is no way he can afford it and he's sorry. We are so mad and upset.

Do you think we can have the ring bearer escort his mother, a bridesmaid? Would that be strange? The other way would be two bridesmaids with one groomsman.

Opinions needed, thanks!

Re: Groomsman out

  • When I had a bridesmaid bow out we decided to have the best man and 1 groomsman escort the MOH.

I would opt for 2 bridesmaids with 1 groomsman but thats just me. Try not to let this get to you, he should have told you sooner but at least he gave you a few days to make alternative arrangements instead of telling you the day before.

I love the idea of the ring bearer escorting his mother!!! How cute is that?!

If not, you can have MOH walk down by herself. Or, you could have all of the girls walk by themselves and have the guys standing with your FI.

[QUOTE]Update: My FI called one of his good friends and explained the situation and asked him if he can be a groomsman. He said he would love to and just needs to check with his boss tomorrow to make sure he can get off early on Friday in order to make it for the rehearsal. I hope he can do it because then my FI will be happy, right now he's super bummed.

Unless you're doing something really out of the norm for a ceremony, I wouldn't let him not being able to make the rehearsal stop him from being a groomsman on the wedding day.  Just make sure he can get the tux....:)
  • Aw Tara, I am so sorry that you are dealing with this right now!.. I hope everything works out for you!.. Sending good vibes your way honey!
  • Good luck with everything!!!!  We had a GM bow out a week and a half before the wedding.  We found a replacement the next day.  He wasn't able to attend the rehearsal and couldn't get out of work until 45 min before the wedding.  We didn't even care, we were just happy for the last min replacement.  It wouldn't have mattered anyway because the GM all stood up w/ DH at the alter, and only the BM got to escort the MOH back down.  One of the GM passed out and had to be carried out at the end by the others.  Everything will work out in the end!!!!

<div>This is true. I didn't even think of this. I just mentioned it to my FI and he said he'll tell his friend. </div>
