am I seriously acting like this right now?(vent)

So, I usually make fun of people that behave the way I'm behaving right now, but I'm really upset. 

I've been wanting to have a hot chocolate station at my wedding, and had it all planned out. I was going to have the mix, marshmallows, the toasted coconut marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, peppermint sticks, white chocolate chips, vanilla and raspberry syrup. I even picked out the jars, cups, scoops/tongs, napkins... everything. 

Well, I know my hotel doesn't allow outside food, but I guess I didn't expect them to get so nit-picky about hot chocolate. They told me no.... that if I wanted hot chocolate served, it would be $5 a cup... A CUP! I could serve a venti starbucks' hot chocolate for that!!! When I mentioned the price, my coordinator said "well, since we setup,cleanup and provide the cups, I think the price is reasonable!".... I got FURIOUS... for one, I don't want your cheap hot chocolate in a Sheraton mug...and I'll set it up myself.... I'm setting everything else up anyway. 

So, I sit here now, annoyed and angry. A normal person wouldn't be mad, because after all, it IS technically outside food... but it's a bridezilla moment like no other... It seems  to be happening more and more frequently... I'm officially one of those brides.

I understand your frustration! 5 dollars a cup is a bit over priced.  Can you have it at the church while people are arriving?

I find the places that don't allow outside food are normally gouging you on something. :(

That is a great idea Jen!

5 bucks a mug is crazy and defeats the purpose of your hot chocolate bar idea. I'd be having a fit too!

I'm sorry that the hotel is being so nit-picky and rediculous with 5 dollars a cup.

Don't feel bad. I am the exact same way. I used to make fun of those brides and now I am one as it get closer and closer to the wedding. We are all allowed to have a few "bride-zilla" moments = )

I would be mad too. You're not acting like a bridezilla at all. I wanted a hot chocolate bar but my mom and FI said it will be a waste of money so we are just brining in hot chocolate and they will make it in the back. I'm going to have a little sign on each table saying that hot choclate is available on request. Too bad your venue won't allow that. And I agree that $5 a cup is way too high.

I had one of those moments yesterday.  I think we are all entitled to a few.    But I also agree that $5 a cup is pretty high.  I love Jen's idea!  Then you can have your hot chocolate bar and still follow your venue's rules.

That was my idea... great minds must think alike! But, I'm having the ceremony at the hotel too... I was going to set it up on the other side of the welcoming table so that people could warm up when they came in.

I understand your frustration. I originally wanted to have hot chocolate and/or smores. My venue doesn't allow outside food in as well. Although we haven't discussed this with them, I  did consider that it may be an issue. We have decided against it because of the time crunch. I have looked into what the venue offers and realized that their prices are significantly inflated. However, working in the hospitality  industry I understand why, yet as a consumer bride I still get a little bummed knowing that I have to spend my money on it.

Wow... I feel so fortunate right now. My venue doesn't allow outside food either, but it is only $25 to add hot chocolate... total for everyone. $5 is RIDICULOUS! What you could do is give hot chocolate packs as favors, and have everyone ask for hot water for tea....

Oh, and we really are all allowed a bridezilla moment or two. It is the people who have one every five seconds that are a problem

Oh no! I already bought my favors, and I like that idea better! I bought white chocolate dipped fortune cookies from oriental trading.... they're super cute! but tiny...

I think it's a great idea to do the hot chocolate bar at the church!

As a guest I would much rather drink a cup before/during/after the ceremony rather than at the reception where I will have moved on to booze
