So, my mom's friend is making my cake for next to nothing. She's doing us a really big favor for making it and not charging us what she would charge another customer... BUT.... we're having a lot of disagreements.
First, she doesn't work with fondant. I told her I wanted my cake to have a pearlized or metallic finish to it, but she swore up and down you couldn't do that without using fondant. Well, I found a spray that says right on the bottle you can use it on buttercream... I want to buy it and show it to her, but I don't want her to feel like I'm trying to prove her wrong.
The next, my wedding colors are black and ice blue. My card box is blue, but mostly everything else so far is black and white. So, I was thinking about making my cake ice blue. She wrinkled her nose at it and told me I'd regret having an ice blue cake. So, we settled on white with ice blue border... it's just not what I had in mind. I really want it to match my card box (ice blue with a pearl top coat) since they'll be across from each other, I think they'd make good focal points. I just don't want to tell her I disagree with her....
What do I do? She's being so nice and helpful, but at the same time... ya know?
