Travel Agent - Italy

Hey girls! So, FI and I have finally decided on a honeymoon destination- Italy! Does anyone know of a good travel agent in the area specializing in Italian vacations? I'm getting excited, but nervous because I've never traveled outside the US. :) Thanks, and enjoy the beautiful day today!

I can't recommend a travel agent but I went to Italy with my fiance (pre-engagement) in May and I planned the whole thing myself using Tripadvisor, Fodor's and Chowhound. I have traveled and lived overseas but I was much younger. This was the first big overseas trip I had been on without my parents leading the way. There is so much good information on the internet that I am sure you could plan it yourself if you want to. We spent 10 days there hitting the major cities. We flew into Venice, then took the train to Florence, and then the train again to Rome, and flew home from there. Italy is always an excellent choice and will be a very romantic honeymoon but definitely not a relaxing one. One recommendation I have is to make dinner reservations close to your hotel. We love good food but after walking all day we did not want to go too far for dinner. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice! I'll look around online and see what I find. I can't wait to be eating delicious pasta and pizza in Rome! or Parma, or Naples, or Florence...I want to go everywhere!

I agree with the other posts- you can book this all on your own through tripadvisor and guide books. I am going on  my honeymoon to italy to (end of May/beginning of June 2010). I have been there several times before and have been dying to go back. Europe is not the cheapest but when you book on your own you are more likely to pick out bed and breakfasts or agrotourism inns which are more affordable and have great experiences. Tripadvisors is the bible for figuring out where to stay. You are going to have a great trip
