I was starting to feel the same way!! Do you already have a reception venue. If not, Bob at the harbor grille worked with our budget. He got it down to $20 per person. Gilligans has prices around 17.00 per person. Easterby's in West Ashley also has prices around the same amount. Barbecue is going to be your cheapest route. If you want something a little nicer you might have to cut your guest list. I hate it that it has to be that way, but I am facing the same problems. Weddings are just really expensive in charleston. Good Luck! Let me know if I can be of any more help!Jessica

Tom Smith catering was very cheap.  $15 for our buffet menu.

Royal grand events was the most cost effective for me.  I think in was 30 a person, but that included horderves(pulled pork sliders, fried green tomatoes, and fruit) and a main meal(fried chicken, mac and cheese, collards, red rice, black eyed peas, green beans, veggie pasta salad and cornbread) and non alcoholic beverages.  Plus he has his own serving equipment and portable kitchen, which for our location saved us a lot on rental costs.  We got a lot for 30/person, so you could have less, and it would decrease the pp cost.Good luck!
