Wedding food on a budget

So, we're rethinking the buffet that we were going for. Instead, we might opt for a more fast food like option for budget reasons. Which of these options would you like?

We are doing fancy burgers so that would be my pick.  We are having a small comfort food station with mini sliders, mac and cheese bites, onion rings, pickles and fries.  Then there will also be a salad station.

Well, I said pasta but I don't really think of that as fast food. I think burritos would be fun, but not everyone I know likes them.

I know it's so hard (maybe impossible) picking something that will please everyone!

</div><div>Seems like you girls like the pasta. I do too, but in my experience pasta served in big quantities tends to get kind of flaky and not-so-good. So a cheap pasta might be less fancy than some really nice burgers. The burritos are the cheapest option, but I think these would be the least popular. Anyway, we'll go to the burrito place tonight to find out how good these are :)</div>

I picked pasta because it is pretty filling. But what kind of fancy burgers & burritos were you thinking of? I love all of them though!

I picked fancy burgers but thats because pasta no longer agrees with me.
I think if your doing the burgers you should offer beef and chicken as well as a veggie burger

The burgers we'd offer would be a 'Greek' lamb burger with tzatziki and spinach, a 'Hawaii' chicken burger with cheddar and pineapple and a 'Havana' sweet potato burger with sour cream and veggies. People could have more than one. We'd offer salads and possibly fries to go with them.

The burrito's would be chicken, beef or veggie. About the pasta, I'm not sure yet, people could choose between two pasta's and four sauces, but I don't have a list of things to pick from yet. Both the burgers and the pasta's are served from a cute little van, the burrito guy would just set up a table in our venue.

could you do a pasta station? i agree with PP that sometimes pasta in a huge batch gets flaky/icky sitting in a buffet warmer.

i have been to places where they serve up the pasta as you order it, mix it with sauces and veggies that the person going through the line requests, and warms everything up quickly in a sautee pan. i think this would be the way to go with pasta.

i also thought the burrito option sounded appealing...actually so do the burgers!! as long as for all three you have a variety of options (different kinds of meat, vegetarian options, choices for sides, etc).

Wow, now that you've described them, I want to change my vote to burgers! I don't eat beef, but the chicken and veggie ones both sound super yummy!

Now that I read your explanation, I continue to think burgers would be awesome. It would be so delicious. I want a burger right now.

I'm glad to see the burgers do have fans after all! Seeing all of you guys vote for the pasta made me realise I want the burgers really bad . FI and I will talk it over this weekend, but I think I know what my heart is set on...

I love the burgers idea! That's what I wanted to do originally but our venue comes with a caterer that we have to use and they didn't have a good burger option. 

I don't know how people are where you live, but I know my FI and most guys i know are really into meat. Unless the pasta sauce has a lot of meat in it, I feel like pasta is more of a side dish while burgers and burritos are more of a main course.

Burgers sound great!  Especially if you have more than just beef.  I love a good turkey burger!  We are have a taco bar and I am super excited about it.

I voted pasta before reading the replies...I had some McDonald's in mind for burgers LOL But after reading your reply, I LOVE the burger idea! That sounds so yummy and "different"...but a good different! Especially if you're not going super traditional (though I still think it could work, even if you are.)
