hair trial

If you could have your hair and makeup trial before E-pics would you?  FI and I are going to San Diego, potentially getting e-pics taken there, and meeting with all of our vendors.  The lady that I am likely going to go with said that she could do my wedding hair (half-up half down) and then take it out for the e-pics.

Side note: Since my hair is long, I generally curl it for volume anyway, so it's not like it wouldn't be "me" if I had it curly.

I just don't want it to look too much like my wedding look in the pictures.

Re: hair trial

  • Ally I had a similar concern about doing my hair and makeup trials right before my bridal shower.

Like your lady, my stylist did my wedding hair trial, ripped it all out, and gave me another look that she called my "shower hair". It was gorgeous and I got tons of compliments - but it was nothing like my wedding hair will be. Perhaps your lady could do something similar?!?

As far as makeup goes, my artist did what she called a very "toned-down" version of my makeup - so I could see what she does and how she works, see what type of coverage the airbrush makeup gave me, and have a lighter look that would work for a daytime shower that would be different than my wedding look. Perhaps yours could do something similar too??
  • I would definitely take it out from the trial style for your e-pics, You don't want photos before the wedding day with the same exact hair as your wedding hair.

As long as you can take it out without it looking like a rat's nest, it shouldn't be an issue :) Mine, on the other hand, would have been an absolute disaster area because my updo was so complicated and messy that I had to wash my hair in order to get the style out . . . and there was still hairspray in it the next day!

  • Well, I actually wouldn't have her take it out, b/c I think one of things that's good to see with a trial is how it wears throughout the day. I think this is especially important if you are doing half down with some curls, as you want to make sure she does the curls in a way that will hold all night.

So IDK, but I would try to see if you could do them different days, or do it in the reverse order (e-pics followed by trial). If that's not a possibility, I might just leave it in for the e-pics, especially since you said you wear it in a similar way day to day anyway.

  • My stylist did my hair for my engagement photos and I had my make up professionally done for them as well, however I am going with someone different for my wedding make up and have my my trial done on a different day.  Same for my hair.  I do not want anyone to know what my make up or my hair will be done until the day of my wedding.  I want the elimant of surprise.
  • My lady took my hair down and pinned it way different to what I'll be having for the day of =)  and maybe have your make-up artist play it down than what she normally would have
