Small Wedding in Savanah

Hi, I was recently engaged on the 4th of July in Savanah and I fell in love with the city. It was my first time there and I cannot wait to go back! I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place for a ceremony and reception for about 20 people. I want to do a small wedding with our immediate family for not a lot of money. But something that we can still enjoy dancing as well. Does anyone have good ideas?

Hello, I'll be getting married in Savannah in april.  Any one of the parks/squares would be beautiful.  There's the big fountain in Forsyth Park and also a bunch of smaller parks as well.  Vic's on the River would be a good place for a small reception.  Also try the Marshall House, The Pink House, and/or The Mansion on Forsyth which has a restaurant that does small receptions as well.

Congrats on your engagement!  I would definitely look at the Elopement Package offered by The Masion at Forsyth Park.  It is tailored for small weddings, and includes basically everything (even the ceremony)...they provide a delicious dinner in 700 Drayton, the hotel restaurant.  The only thing you wouldn't have is the dancing.  But, you could always hire a private trolley to pick you and your guests up from The Mansion and bring you to a bar with music after dinner.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jazz'd on Barnard Street.  They serve tapas, but also have a bar area and have live music most nights.  Great drinks, great atmosphere.  There are lots of places you could go after with music....also, a lot of the B&Bs have small weddng packages that are all inclusive (but again, probably no dancing).  One last thought is to take your guests on the Savannah River Queen cruise after a ceremony/dinner; the boat has 3 levels and there is usually a DJ on one and a band on the other.  The boat is lovely to look at on the exterior...but average on the inside.  It isn't wedding-ish at all...very standard decor.  Also, the cruise itself doesn't showcase too much of the actual river...but it is fun.  I've gone on it twice...just something unique to do in Savannah.  I wouldn't normally recommend the cruise for any wedding activity, but I'm trying to think of places with live music where you wouldn't incur the cost of providing the music....

    Good luck!

Thank you! I was actually looking at the Mansion at Forsyth and I am in love with it! The boat is a great idea. We took one for the fireworks and thought it was kind of cool to have a wedding there. I am already thinking of when I can plan my next trip and actually go into the Mansion and see what it's all about.

Mrsball, where are you getting married in April? Do you live down there? How is the weather around that time? I want to have it when we aren't sweaty like crazy but can still be outside without being cold.

Hi.  The other ladies have given you some great suggestions.  Also, look into the garden at the Ships of the Sea Museum, the roof tops at Churchill's and The Bohemian, Marlin Monroe's on Tybee and The Gastonian.
April is a beautiful month in Savannah.  It can also be a little if-y.  It may be 60* one day and then 80* another day.  It can also be a bit rainy.  I think it would be a great time for you to have a wedding.  If you do something outside, I would suggest you make sure to have a back up plan.
GL and happy planning.  Let us know if you have any other questions.

I Just thought of one other thing...my absolute favorite restaurant in Savannah is called Noble Fare; the decor is fantastic...you wouldn't need a single decoration...and the food is some of the best I've eaten anywhere in the world (and I've eaten in a lot of different places).  They have a private dining room on the second floor of the restaurant that holds 30 people.  If you had your ceremony in one of the squares and needed a restaurant for your dinner/reception, this place woyld be perfect.

AVIA is also a beautiful hotel.  I've never been to a wedding there, but I can't imagine it looking bad ;) They have really reasonable prices for smaller weddings and it includes food and a cake! Good luck with everything!

Oh the Gastonian is breath-taking! And they can accomodate exactly that many people. My FI and I almost whittled our guest list by more than half to use them, but are going with Kehoe House instead.

    Good luck!!

We have less than 1 month to go until our small wedding in Savannah (Sept 3!).  We have a total of 6 guests and us, and are staying and getting married at The Gastonian.  We loved the intimacy of the garden and the fact that their package provided everything we need.  Ceremony, flowers, cake, champagne...we're having a dinner at The Pink House and are using a Gastonian recommended photographer:  John Zeuli.

Congratulations on your engagement!  Personally, I don't think you could have chosen a better location to wed (but then again, I'm slightly partial).  :)

I sm getting married in Savannah in October. I did check with The Mansion about doing my small wedding of 50-75 people and was quoted $20,000.  That was way out of our budget. This is a second marriage for both of us. Gazebo Weddings in Savannah is another good place depending on how many people you are inviting. It was too small for ours.
