Inexpensive/unique venues for reception/ceremony

Hi All:

I've seen a lot of you mention how you were able to do your weddings under a strict budget and am just wondering where ya'll booked your receptions and ceremonies. I'm trying to keep my wedding at about $8k, but am having a hard time finding venues that allow me to do that. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong places? Any tips are much appreciated!

What area are you looking to have your wedding/reception at? How many people? What kind of style are you looking for? What time of the year?

All of these have to go into consideration when thinking about budget.

Give us a little insight and we can try to help. :)

Thanks for getting back to me! I'm looking around the Raleigh/Cary area, but would not rule out Durham or CH. I think our max number of attendees is 80 ppl, but I'm hoping we actually have a litte less. The wedding will happen next Spring. March 31 is the tentative date, but that can change if the perfect venue isn't available. My biggest "need" is a dance floor. I want a lot of room for people to dance. We'll be doing buffet style food. Other than that, there's no other requirements :)

Hey.  I just saw this.  We are using a venue (winery) in Angier and it's just got an Angier address and it's conviently located off of i40 about 7 or 8 mins.  It's beautiful out there.  It's called Gregory Vineyards.  I don't live too awful far from there.  Our budget is about $6K and they are a really great place for a great price.  They have tons of space for a dance area.  We were very pleased with them and the owners were more than nice.  I'm only 7 miles from them.  Oh and if you want to have wine for your wedding or just juice their prices are great.  If you need more info let me know.  Just PM me.

I have run into the same problem.  We thought we could keep our budget around 7500 but after researching and visiting countless venues, we are at 15000.
Anyway, you can have a wedding way under that at Cafe Luna in Raleigh.  They do not charge you to use the space and you get their full buffet and unlimited wine and beer for 41.95 per person.  We did the tour and ate there and it was wonderful!!!!  We had too many people for the venue, though.  You can also have your ceremony there in a separate room.  It is 300 bucks and beautiful.

You can also go to the white garden at JC Raulston Arberetum.  It is 500 and you can bring in your own caterer.  Very beautiful but it only seated 100 people so it was out of our running.  Another cool touch, you could have ceremony at Arberetum and then take the Trolley to Cafe Luna!!  We looked into that and it is SUPER cheap and cool!  It also makes for nice pictures!

There are also plenty of hotels in walking distance to Cafe Luna and guests could still go out for late night.  We were having our wedding Sunday night on Labor Day.  Everything would have been perfect there.

Good Luck with whatever you do!!!!

I think you can get a good deal at The Rose Gardens in Raleigh.  Also, most parks don't really charge a fee. I went to a wedding in Fletcher Park recently, and the bride said the price was very reasonable.  I think their entire wedding was less that $4,000. Good luck!

Look at The Oaks at Salem in Apex. We looked there. GORGEOUS venue. You can bring your own caterer. Lots of dance space. Booking for the day is $4500 for the wedding and receptoin, they set up tables etc, supply linens, valet parking all included I think. They have a website. I remember April was very nice. We ended up having our wedding at a church venue instead.
