Engagement Picture Locations

My fiance and I are looking at taking engagement pictures sometime this September. Does anyone have any neat locations they would recommend. We are around Raleigh, but would be up to traveling a few hours out.

What kind of thing would you consider "neat"?  We did ours on our college campus.  I've seen some taken in abandoned houses, or greenhouses, or gardens, or bowling allys or fields, or downtown/urban environments.  There are thousands of options.

You can't beat Duke Gardens for its sheer beauty! They have different flowers in bloom year round. Go for something that really represents you and your fiance. You guys are movie buffs? Try a historic theatre. Avid readers? A library! If you guys have a favorite vacation spot that means a lot to you, and you can afford it, you could always book a weekend trip and schedule a session with a photographer local to the area to capture a variety of shots. Have fun!!

He is a Carolina Fan (Campbell graduate) and I am a NCSU fan and graduate. Definitely do not think that a college campus would work for us! :) I was thinking something more scenic. I love the beach pictures, but I feel like I see them everywhere. The Duke Gardens are beautiful, but I am planning my bridal portrait at the WRAL gardens, so I think I would want something a little different. Does anyone know any good lake locations?

Gregory Vineyards in Angier has a Water front area and the vineyards are beautiful the butilding is brick so it switches things up a bit.  and they have a great inside scene.  They have a photographer they prefer but i think outside photographers are permitted.  Lisa Ennis. SHE IS AMAZING.  She does my daughter's pictures and she's doing my Bridal Portaits there.

PM me if you have questions

That's awesome about your fiance. Mine is a Carolina Fan and is starting at Campbell this fall to get his masters in divinity. The mountains in NC are beautiful and have lots of waterfalls that would make stunning photo backdrops. Around this area the lakes include Jordan Lake, Falls Lake, Lake Mackintosh, and Lake Cammack.

The state fairgrounds have a lake--don't know what the landscaping will look like in September, but it was great during the fair. I'm a diehard Tarheels, but sea so took pix at NCSU at one of the older buildings on campus--the original library. It has great white marble columns in front and an awesome courtyard in the back. We also thought about the Capitol grounds.

We are doing ours at a palce called Yates Mill.  The photogrpaher recommended it and it seems nice.  I've seen a lot of picture being taken out there.
