Flowers... yikes!

I'm starting to feel a bit ignorant to the details that come along with flowers and could really use some answers BEFORE I start contacting florists.
I know that I can order bouquets and many florists will make a bouquet using our wedding colors for me to approve. Can I buy loose flowers to create my own centerpieces as well?  I have priced several centerpieces and they are outrageous.  I feel that I could do my own, considering I want very simple flowers at the reception.  I'm having a country-themed wedding and want to use mostly baby's breath and maybe a few sunflowers and daisies here and there.  I'm thinking I might even be able to create the boutonnieres using baby's breath and burlap.
I'm also looking for a reasonably priced florist in the area that does quality work without taking advantage.  Any ideas?  THANKS!!

  • Check out Vogue Flowers! You can buy flowers from them wholesale and they let you use their supplies to put together your own arrangements, and they'll store them overnight in their fridges for you.
