Rehearsal dinner sites

Our rehearsal will be in Harrisburg and I am trying to come up with an idea for the dinner to follow the practice.  There will be about 25 people attending and I am looking for a moderately priced dinner option. I don't even know where to start!!! Any feedback is helpful...TIA

A couple of questions to help narrow things down...about how much are you looking to spend per person?  Also--is there a certain cuisine you'd like to lean toward, or is anything possible?  One more thing: is your rehearsal downtown?  If so, do you want to stay downtown, or are you willing to head toward the outskirts?  Colonial Park/Union Deposit Road/Camp Hill?  :)  Happy to help!

The grooms parents are paying so pricing is not really a variable. Although I would like a moderately priced place (honestly-not sure priceper plate). We would like to in the stay downtown area since our rehearsal is at the Capitol. As far as cuisine....american or italian. My general answers are an indicator of how lost I am on this one:)

Alright, here is my list of suggestions (sorry, long): -Appalacian Brewing Company: a very unique atmosphere and simply fun! -MangiQui(SP?): Expensive, but very good italian/american food! -Bricco: Again this is expensive, but they have the best food downtown. -El Sol: I know you didn't include Mexican food in you reqeusted food- however, there food is amazing, authentic Mexican food and moderatly priced. -Stocks: Expensive but good. -Molly Brannigans: Food is just alright, but probably more what you are looking for. -McGraths: Food is awesome here and I think they will rent out the top floor for you. -Ceolta's: Food is alright, but you can rent out the place upstairs. -Sammy's: This is right across from the Capitol Steps. They will rent out the room downstairs. It is really really good authentic Italian food. The more I think about it, this is probably the best place for you. -Firehouse: Great ambiance, food is good, but expensive. -Duke's: This is across the river, but they have a room upstairs with great views of the city and is probably the best priced. However, food is not super wonderful. My top three suggestions would be: 1. Sammy's 2. MangiQui 3. Tie- Dukes or McGraths. HTH

A few that I would have suggested have already been posted above...I'll add to/reiterate those! If you're looking for "fancy":1.  Scott's Grill: Food is good, as far as I remember, it's a little on the pricey side, but close to your location. 2.  Stocks: again, expensive, but good! On the "casual" side:3.  Sammy's: Italian food, as mentioned above...and it's BYOB, if that's of any help!  I call it "casual" but it's a nice place!  A good choice, because it's fancier food at a more casual price.4.  Duke's: Not "fancy," but one of my favorite casual places to eat.  Agreed the food is not fab, but the atmosphere is fun.  It's also not far from downtown.5. Macaroni Grill: A chain, but they might have some suggestions or a place for you to hold your dinner.  Also--not downtown, so a bit of a hike from the Capitol building. Some other suggestions: having it catered and seeing if there's a room to rent at the Capitol building/another banquet location.  Especially with only 25 people, it might be an option!  I'm not sure how/if the Capitol would do that. Some of the hotels downtown might do catering or have a restaurant, but many of those might be booked by people having weddings there... (are you having your reception downtown, too?)There are menus online for all of these places--but I would call and see what their capabilities for rehearsal dinners are!  I hope I was of some help!   Sorry for the length!

We had our rehearsal dinner at Dockside Willie's in their private room. The food was great and all we had to pay for was the food and drinks, no extra room rental or hidden charges. It was fun and relaxed and exactly what we wanted. We looked into Duke's but they told us they couldn't do rehearsal dinners between like March-September because they need all their staff out on the deck.  We thought that was kind of lame since it's the busiest wedding season but that's their policy.

Dockside Willie's--I've never been there--but that's what our rehearsal dinner spot is doing for us, as well.  No hidden charges, one flat fee and a deal on "per-case" beer and wine.  That seems like they'd be willing to work with you, which Duke's doesn't from what G said.  Might be worth taking a look at that one, too! When you do decide on a location--see if they're willing to knock a buck or two off of your per-drink price if you buy in a bulk number.  I'm so happy to be of help--for a while I was trying to post on the Pittsburgh board, but I was always asking for help and never able to give any back, since I live out of the area.  :)  I feel so much better being able to give and take!

I have to agree with pp....Sammy's wins hands down in my book!! We had our rehearsal dinner there last year. Troy and Sammy are tops!! We had 24 ppl for dinner, had the downstairs room, not exclusively, but the other diners didn't mind us being there...and we were having a GOOD time!! Troy and the guys will take excellent care of you and Sammy will do ALL the cooking...the man is amazing!!! HTH!
