Videographer

Hey everyone! PP mentioned in her reviews about Bradford Carlson and gave him great reviews. Although I was very pleased with Brad's personality, I wasn't extremely happy with my video. For instance, my grandpa's bald head was in our entire ceremony and it blocked us half of the time. Also, the sound is terrible and you can't really hear the vows. I just thought I'd chime in. If anyone is interested in booking him, I would definitely look into other videographers first. Like I said, Brad's a great guy, but he's overpriced fro his work. Anyone is welcome to watch my video if you're intereseted. This is just my opinion ONLY and I realize that many girls were very pleased with his work. I just thought I'd add in a 2nd opinion. Also, i gave him rave-reviews on my planning-bio and wanted to re-track some of that! Thanks all!

I have to be honest. You’ve posted quite a bit on these boards and are not afraid to state your opinion on anything. I think you’re a little over the top with posting this. You are entitled to your opinion and I can’t disagree more with it. Brad did our video a couple years ago and it’s absolutely wonderful. The sound is clear, including vows, and we did look at quite a few other videographers before booking him. Everyone else was cheesy and expensive. We had the option to personalize our video, add feedback and opinions and even add a photo montage. Our video was THE BEST MONEY we spent next to the pictures. Again, entitled to your opinion, but I disagree completely. Tammy

I think this is a bit harsh. Used Brad for our videographer also and did not have any problems or issues whatsoever. Our video is a great keepsake of our day and tells a beautiful story of one of the most important days of our life. Sound is clear, picture is crisp. I have some friends who have also hired Brad to work for them. Alexis

Ladies, K-Hart did not say he was TERRIBLE or the worst vendor she had or anything else brutal. In fact. She even states that this is HER OPINION ONLY.. Not everyone has a great experience with a vendor, and different people have different expectations.  Whats wonderful to me might be terrible to you.  If we cant allow people to post their opinions on these boards, whats the point?

K-Hart's post in not out of line at all, coming from an individual who is still looking for vendors and takes both bad and good reviews into account.  She clearly stated that it was her opinion and it does not read as being harsh at all. I have seen much worse posts on here that are discounted based on their tone.  It is actually nice to hear both positive and negative vendor feedback so that educated decisions can be made.  Thanks K-hart for you very informative post and OPINION.  I appreciate your honesty as I look for vendors.

I can appreciate your opinion and you taking the time to do it. Unfortunately with DH and I having worked with Brad and with our completed video in our possession, I must disagree with your '2nd opinion' as well. In my previous post, I referenced everything we felt that made our video great and what means the most to us. I stand by it. Melinda

Hey everybody, Again, this is MY OPINION ONLY! I'm not on here to "bash" particular vendors, but I must be honest in the product I received. I think it's great that SO MANY brides had their video done with Brad and absolutely love it. In fact, I would have loved mine too, if it weren't for the entire ceremony. I think Brad is a fantastic person. Really great guy, listens well and was a joy to work with, I'm just not totally satisfied with my video. I don't think that I'm being harsh at all. My entire ceremony is of my grandpa's bald head and you can see my head and DH head poking out over the top. The sound is bad, and maybe this wasn't any fault of his, but one of the reasons for hiring a videographer was to capture the ceremony for my pap that can't hear very well so that he can watch it at home with his headphones. I'm just trying to caution brides that are considering him in the future and I thought by offering to watch my video that they could form their own opinion of the actual video. Look, I spent $800 on this video and I just wanted to be able to see and hear my ceremony above all else. I was just a little upset that it came out the way it did. That being said, perhaps the room was too big to capture the sound well or perhaps he wasn't able to get any different shot other than my grandpa's head. Whatever the reason, I'm just telling you what my experience was with the outcome of my video. I'm sorry for being so honest and that this came off harsh for those that worked with him and loved him.

i think this board needs to pick a side and stick to it. two weeks ago everyone was complaining that the Central PA board didnt offer good advice and opinions but instead were a bunch of b!tches who ruin knotting. well here's your opinion and youre all complaining about it. im sure people have both good and bad things to say about every single vendor. obviously farley had a bad experience with her cater and i'm sure people gave her good reviews beforehand. surely she wouldnt have booked him if someone said..oh he will be four hours late. no one criticized her for her bad review. every one of us has a different opinion and a different wedding style. take it for what its worth and THANK k-hart for being honest, dont bash her. k-hart- im sorry you had such a bad videographer :( thats a bummer. what all the ladies on here didnt say that they should have is, im sorry things didnt turn out the way you wanted and planned for your special day, but atleast your pics are gorgeous :)

I agree that all opinions are necessary. Good or bad all are helpful. I think K was right in including her experience with the Videographer in question. If i wasn't happy with his product I would have posted the same thing. Personalitly is one thing but delivering a less than stellar product (especially at $800) is something I would want to know about. Kudos for Khart for giving her two cents!

Backing up K-hart here. She has every right to voice her opinion on a vendor. And sadly (for the videographer in question), it's a pretty objective criticism. One can't dispute bad sound quality and a bald head in the way. Who knows - he could have had an off day or tech glitches. You can also disagree and say your video by the dude is so amazing it should have awards. But saying K-hart is "over the top" and "harsh?" Um, no. She's upset about a less than stellar video. I think we would all be if we were in that position.

Thanks for understanding girls. I wanted everyone to know also that I DID discuss this with Brad as well, it's not like I went behind his back to try to belittle him or something. I did let him know that I was unhappy and gave specifics as to why like mentioned above. I appreciate the Knottie support!

We checked Brad out as well and decided not to go with him for the same reasons K-hart was unhappy with her video.  Most of the sample videos we saw were not very high quality. I don't think K-hart is off-base at all.
