I can't believe it

I have not been able to get in touch with my wedding planner for a month and I finally get in touch with a member of her staff and found out some troubling news... My WP is broke she has no $$ and is getting ready to file for bankruptcy. Well then she has a lot of other stuff that has been going on. She has been lying about a lot of things to the point where her husband has left her. The girl I talked to said that the website for them is about to get shut down and the phone # for the "office". And there are a lot of other couples she is screwing over. I got in contact with the attorney general's office and they are sending out a complaint form and tomorrow I am contacting the BBB (which I found out that there has already been a complaint filed). I am also going to the DJ's office and file a civil suit against her. I just don't know what to think right now!! She also in trouble for fraudulently signing doctors forms. At least the girl I talked to is willing to stay on and help me with my planning for free! I hate people like this!!!! I am also thinking about contacting the news station about this. I don't want her taking advantage of any body else. I just want to scream!!!!!  Is there anything else I can do about this?

If you don't mind me asking, what was the naem of the planner?  I ask because I am currently questioning the status of my planner.

Oh no!  I'm so sorry that has happened to you!  Look at the bright side...I see your wedding is a year away so you still have plenty of time.  I don'tknow if there's much else you can do except for reporting it to the BBB and the AG.  I don't know if I would want to do any kind of business there though.  I would probably look for another planner but that's just my opinion.  Good luck!

Her name is Kathleen Grabowski from la petite fleur.    The girl that is helping me is not with this company anymore.  She quit in August.

if i might ask, what exactly do you think the news station is going to do for you? and also- youve not actually heard this information from anyone except a girl who stopped working for this company in august. is she really a reliable source or a disgruntled ex employee?

I think that she is reliable because I have not been able to get in touch with her at all.  She has told me she was going to do things and never did them and this girl was just interning for her and was not getting paid.  She has been checking her mail through the companies website and has seen emails from others trying to get in touch with her.  She has also spoken with this ladies husband about what is going on.   I just don't want anyone else getting screwed by her.

Actually if you think about it contacting a new station Steeser would inform people who have been taken advantage of and who do not know it...like me 20 minutes ago.  Shellbell026, do you have any other contact points for the company?  The only contact I have is disconnected.

i agree with you katie, if you have something substantial to say. at this point, all shellbell has is hearsay from an ex employee who is intercepting company email for a company that she doesnt even work for anymore. id be cautious to go to a news station without having any hard information. plus, if this woman felt that she was screwing over so many brides then why havent they or she gone to the news station about it. or why hasnt she called all of the other brides to inform them that they are "going to get screwed over too".

If you have given someone a deposit for services and now are dealing with unreturned phone calls and disconnected numbers with no correspondence...I would say those are red flags.Regardless of the input from her "former employee" other couples with money invested should be contacted or warned in some manner...obviously after investigating it yourself.  Steeser, why are you so against trying to help other people??  And for someone who is not invested in this service or situation..why are even given negative feedback?

I have been having a problem with her but she is such a smooth talker.  She is a very smooth talker.   What are the odds that I found out about this and then her company line has been disconnected?  I am not trying to smeer anyone but I don't want her to take advantage of anyone else.  I think that the news station would do an investigation before they air anything anyway.  Trust me I hope that I am wrong but I know in my heart I am not.

shellbell- i hope youre wrong too. i would hate to see this happen to you, although you do have some time until youre wedding to get things fixed. all im saying is that i know it is an upsetting situation, but we all know there are CRAZY people out there. you dont know that this woman isnt just a disgruntled employee trying to steal business. so if she is the ONLY person you have information from, i would be a little hesitant to make a huge deal out of it for fear that it will blow up in your face. say either of you contact a news station and this turns to be untrue, you could be sued yourselves for slander. i know when you get upset its easy to go from happy to worst case scenerio in a split second. before you do something very rash and public (more so than this forum) i would be certain to have my facts straight. im not being negative katie, im simply trying to be the voice of reason.

I understand where your coming from and I appreciate the voice of reason.  The girl I heard it from was an intern and wasn't getting paid.  She was working for experience.   On top of it she is going to help me for free.  The only thing that sucks is that we paid her in full and now we don't have the $$ to go and hire someone else.

Hy ladies. I think that Steeser was trying to say "make sure your information is accurate so that you don't end up making something out of nothing." She's not trying to be mean, but the poor girl has the flu and a bad fever, perhaps her words just aren't coming out quite right. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you girls (although I don't really understand hiring a wedding planner anyway?, I'm probably definitely missing something here, but I LOVE planning events, so maybe it's just me). Unfortunately, this does happen all of the time an has been happening more and more lately. I'm not even sure that anyone would care (such as news people). It's a damn shame that people can just screw you over like that. I don't think I speak for myself here when I offer you help in your planning from here on out.

Its not so much I needed one for planning as much as a DOC but I have 3 kids and it gets hard to make calls without screaming.  I am ending up doing it all myself anyways.  I also liked to have someone to ask questions to (when my first planner was there) and not feel dumb.  You ladies seem to know all when it comes to weddings.

There is no harm in going to a news station with this information.  They will do investigation before they report it.  If shell is getting bad information, then they will let her know.  If the story is legit, you're helping everyone else who is in your position.
