Quote per person sounds reasonable?

Is $88/person after tax and gratuity a good price for the following.....I am editing this to add it's a February wedding which means it's about $30 less than it would be any other time. (It will come to around $100 per person after decor/chair covers etc)

For the ceremony set up and change over. (ceremony and reception in the same place)

full open premium open bar for 7-8 hours

5 types passed hors d'ouevres (hot and/or cold our choice)

soup (choice)
pasta (stuffed pasta our choice)
Veggies and stuffed chicken (asiago and spinach stuffed)
creme brulee

late night fruit station, cake cutting, fresh mini waffles and ice cream with berry or chocolate sauce and pizza

I think it's a good price but FI thinks it's too high. The place isn't the most fancy but I like it. It doesn't include chair covers or decor. It would total about $100 per person with chair covers and decor.

This is an off season price for the first saturday in February. So we are saving a LOT of money because of the month.

I think $88 is great for food, 8 hour bar, and all that late-night stuff.

BUT that depends on your budget - if it doesn't fit your budget, then it's too expensive.

For reference, the cheapest place I found was $100/pp all-in, and most places were $120-$160pp all-in (in the summer).

wow that is a good price. TBH I didn't shop around at all for prices. I am paying $140/pp in the Summer

Wow, I didn't realize it went that high.  I could never have afforded to get married in the summer!! I admire that you can all save that much. I am having trouble coming up with my budget which seems really small now.

Thanks for the reality check and imput.

Agreed that's a great price. I'm paying around $140/person for food and drinks.

Our catering is $45/person (plus tax and tip) for:
    - tablecloths
    - bartender
    - serving staff
    - 6 hors d'oeuvres / person
    - four course meal: salad, pasta, entree (stuffed chicken or salmon), dessert (crepes)
    - softbar supplies
    - venue decor setup
    - if we want chair covers, that's another $4 per person

We were also told that if we go over our estimated number of people, we'll get the additional meals at half-price (within reason, obviously).

Our venue requires that we supply our own alcohol, so the liquor (probably around $10-12/person) and the license ($25) are being purchased outside of the above pricing, as is our venue rental ($1319).

This is for an August wedding on a Friday night.

I think it's a great price, especially if that includes your venue rental.  When you aren't supplying the alcohol, you normally have higher costs, but your fee seems very reasonable (especially since it includes tax and tip!)

You got a FANTASTIC price. A lot of places in the city charge double that.

If it's in your budget, I think you've found a great venue!

That is an AMAZING price for an off season wedding! We are getting married in December and I couldn't find anything for less than $105 pp. for reception (3-4 pieces per person, chicken AND beef for dinner, 5 hour bar and late night pub style table. They still wanted extra for the organza chair cover and overlays I wanted but I negotiated and got them thrown in. If you don't seem too eager they will be willing to negotiate with you to throw in some "extra's". In the off season they would rather make the money for your event by giving you some "freebies" to make you happy than lose the entire event.
The bar itself is a steal for you because anything I've some across usually is a max of 4-5 hour bar.....for each extra hour it's usually approx. $10.00 per person!

(We are getting married in York Region)
