Bombonieres

Hi Ladies,

Where did you get yours? Does anyone know of Prince Bombonniere in Vaughan?

Where can I get cheap gift wrapping paper in Toronto?

Thanks

Dollarama is my go-to place for gift wrap.

    We didn't have favours/bonbonnieres.

Ditto, I get wrapping paper at Dollarama.  They also have cellophane stuff if that is more what you are looking for.  Check with the gift bags/ribbon/etc.  Or try a bigger Dollarama that has more selection.

Sorry, never heard of Prince Bomboniere in Vaughan.

You don't have to get pre-made favours from a favour store.  It's not worth buying them just to have them.  I don't keep engraved paper weights or wine glasses that I get at weddings.  I would keep your favour practical and/or edible to please most people and have your favour be well-received.

We did plain white bistro mugs filled with coffee/tea/hot chocolate and hershey's kisses.  I got the mugs from Oscar Parrot (they do corporate logos on mugs and lots of other stuff and they are cheaper without anything on them), and the drink stuff from Canadian Wedding Favours (online site).  Check out my planning bio if you want more information and websites.

Ditto to the dollar store for gift wrap!

I actually bought tea light holders with rhinestones around the frame but I might just end up giving it as a give away for my shower.

I was out shopping again today and decided to go with a nice white square plate from bowring. I was being advised by family members that I should give something nice and something useful.

I was at  dollarama looking at the their ivory/white gift wrapping paper. I can't tell what the quality of the paper is like since they were all individually wrapped. I guess it should be ok since the guests will rip it out anyway.

do you think it's better to have the favours be shown? Since it's a plate its going to be in a box and wrapped up. I want to get pics of it.

A friend of ours got "dip chillers" as gifts - they were a GREAT idea - just white and has a spot underneath for ice or hot water, and it keeps dips hot or cold.  It's great to entertain with.  I've seen lots of other serving pieces that are nice as well, and our florist actually sells them in her shop.  Check out http://www.weddingfavours.ca - they have a lot of good household stuff as gifts at a good price.

Other friends have given homemade jam, one just had a sweet table full of treats for you to collect and take home, others had picture frames.  The more useful the better!

You don't need to have the favours showing.  Not sure if they were going to be at your place settings or on a separate table.  If they are separated, you could have one on display showing what it is inside.

We made sure guests grabbed our favours on the way out the door at the end of the night.  Looking back, I probably would have done this differently, as I had about 20 left over.  My friends who did the dip chiller handed them out as people were moving through the receiving line at the beginning of the reception.  I think some of her guests left them under the table, forgetting about them at the end of the night (because they were too big to stay on the table during dinner).  I don't think any process is perfect!

I know that Kitchen Stuff Plus will give you a further discount when you buy in a large quantity (even if it is on sale) so that's always worth a try  (They have an outlet on Orfus Rd.)

Keep on the look out for sales.... and I agree with the other girls, make it practical so that people actually use what you are giving them.

Ring_pop I'm so happy to hear someone didn't do favours.

I'm not very happy with the idea that they are expected these days, the same way that we as brides shoudn't expect gifts (and trust me, I don't) guests shouldn't expect anything either.

I am doing various black and white mugs, bud vases, and candle holders filled with flowers as my centrepeices, and there will be enough for everyone to take one home, but that is all there will be in the line of favours.
