Paper Lanterns

Hi ladies,

Did any of you end up getting paper lanterns for your weddings?  I've been hoping to get some.  I went onto paperlanternstore.com and they calculated my shipping at $300!  Chinatown is about $3.00 a lantern and I was hoping for a bit cheaper.

Any suggestions for other places to check for cheap lanterns?

Try Frugalbride.com - they have a "For Sale" section and I've seen a few people post for laterns.  As well, check out kajiji and craigslist.  As lot of brides post there as well.

If Paperlanternstore shipping is high because you are in Canada you could consider one of the ship-to-the-border services.  It's typically a $5 fee and you can pick it up in Niagara.

If you're buying a whackload in Chinatown (obviously the most convenient choice) then just ask if they'll give you a bulk discount.  If you buy one it's $3 but if you buy 50 they'll definitely drop the unit price - you just need to ask/negotiate.
