Anyone been to Michelangelo's in Hamilton or Marquis Gardens in Ancaster?

Sorry about the long subject title! I went to Michelangelo's in Hamilton this past Saturday to view the hall. I liked the hall, but wasn't in absolute love with it... But the price was so right at $80.00/person all inclusive (incl. open bar, tax & gratuities). I am viewing Marquis Gardens in Ancaster next week.

I am just wondering if anyone has been to either location to give me opinions on food/decor/atmosphere.

Also, any recommendations for other sites (besides Carmen's) in the Hamilton/Burlington area are appreciated. I thinking November 2013 so no outdoor sites please lol!

Thanks to all!

  • I've been to Michelangelo's. Not for a wedding, but for a formal event. The set up was nice, food was decent and it was a great time. If you're looking at it for November then you're probably okay since your guests won't be outside.
  • Another place along the same lines as you are looking at in the Hamilton area is The Olympia/Grand Olympia.  Big banquet halls, a few weddings at the same time, all-inclusive packages under $100 pp.

The Ancaster Mill is gorgeous but a bit more pricey.
  • Thanks for the ideas everyone!
  • I went to a wedding on New Years Eve at Marquis Gardens.  The hall was beautiful, and decorations were nice as well.  The food was good, however was super slow.  I would say there was at least half an hour between each course, and over an hour between pasta and the main meal.  Also, when they brought our plated meal, they brought the salad then (not sure if that was planned, or not) but it meant there was no where to put the salad on your plate.  I am wondering if they just forgot to bring it out, because it tasted pretty soggy, like it had been sitting out for awhile.  Other then that, the food and drinks were great.
