church donation

i know this question gets asked a lot but it's very location dependent. i'm getting married in vineland, on and there is no church fee for the wedding. of course we will give a donation to the church. how much do you think it appropriate for that area? it seems like when i look this up in general the suggestions are from $100-1000 which is quite the range.

Donate what you're comfortable with donating and what fits into your budget.  For me, I'd be good with donating around $200 or so.  But also take into consideration, are you paying a fee for your pastor/officiant?  That should also factor into your donation as well.

I agree with Jewel. I was thinking around the $200 mark as well.

Our church recommends a donation of $300...

I am going to give the priest a $100 gift for the ceremony and a $200 donation to the church.

Just for your reference, the arch diocese of Toronto for a Catholic wedding usually takes a fee of $300, and we gave our priest about $150 in gift cards for dinner and Starbucks since he would not ever accept cash.  It's an idea if you are looking for something different.  Not sure how it works for other churchs.
