That's my venue! See pics in married bio. It's also susschen's venue too. They had a staffing switch of event coordinators during the time we booked, which had us on edge, but it ended up working out okay. My reception went very well -- only about two very minor complaints. When the new coordinator came on board, she re-did their marketing, menu, and prices, so while not super pricey, it went up from 1/3 what it was when I booked in April 2008. I did get my hands on 2009 pricing from a friend, so I can email that to you if you want. You can't beat the atmosphere and the food was excellent.

I honestly had a mixed experience with the Scottish Rite.  I had a lot of issues working with the new coordinator which caused a lot of stress and in the end I wasn't able to do everything I had wanted to and had figured out with the old coordinator.  The venue is absolutely beautiful and I was happy with the reception over all, other than a few of my guests being confronted when they tried to wave us off.  As far as the food, I heard the appetizers were great, the portions were a bit smaller than I had expected and the chicken we had (Chicken Acacia) was INCREDIBLY dry.  Overall, I'm still pretty pleased and my guests were definitely impressed.  I would say it's definitely worth looking into, especially since it would have been easier if I had worked with the current coordinator the whole time.  My one piece of advice would be not to choose Chicken Acacia as your chicken dish, the beef burgundy was really yummy!

The reception venue is the hardest if it's your priority... You end up picking other vendors depending of the availability of your priority vendor. Haha, does that make sense??? The reception venue was DEFINITELY the hardest for us because there really isn't much around this area. I've heard really good things also about the Liberty Valley Country Club between danville and lewisburg too, if not much else comes though!

I will definitely look into this.mamie...your pictures are gorgeous, that venue has the feel we want.  would love that pricing list if you still have it..dominique_1219 @ hotmail dot com. Susschen..good to know..I hate nothing more than dry chicken.tela--you look familiar, haha.  What you said about prioritizing made sense to me.  I haven't really been able to choose any other vendors because I want to find an available venue on the date we want...so I'll have to find other vendors that have that date available as well.  Also, I didn't know about liberty valley, I'll have to check it out.  There really isn't very many good reception venues in this area. Thanks everyone!

haha, hi dom! And i realized i never even answered your question - i think the scottish rite is GORGEOUS! I think i heard someone mention once that it's not handicap accessible which is a problem because the food is served upstairs... Alissa actually might have told me that, i know she's been there too. But that could be something i made up in my head... who knows! GL!

tela - it is handicapped-accessible. There's an elevator between floors. We had to make sure of this because one of my grandmothers is in a wheelchair.
