Cozy December honeymoon options??

Hi all

Fiance and I are getting married Dec 11th this year and still haven't booked a honeymoon.  We have only 4 or 5 nights available and would like to find a cozy, romantic, cabin type, fireplace sort of place to go.

We're considering everything from somewhere in Ontario, to east coast, west coast, or even the U.S or Caribbean.  If we end up flying somewhere we'd like it to be no more than a 3 hour flight since we don't have a lot of time.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Something quiet and quainte with character...

    hey danielle!

have you considered muskoka? i might be a bit biased as my cottage is in the area and it is pretty much my second home and first true love.... but deerhurst, taboo, or the new red leaves are fantastic. they do have more upscale cabin type accommodations available, if you and your fi are into skiing/snowboarding, huntsville is a good option. again, i'm biased, but you won't have to fly anywhere it's only a 3 h drive!

quebec - mt tremblant area or quebec city are great as well.

Ditto to Muskoka.  All of the above mentioned resorts are excellent.  I'm Muskoka biased too - DH's family has a cottage there near Port Carling.  There is a place near Deerhurst called "The Blue Spruce" that has cozy cabins with fireplaces and hiking trails and ice skating and lots of things to do as well.

If you want to head to the states, Stowe, Vermont is very pretty as well - with skiing, and a quiant little town with lots to see, and lots of cabins and small resorts too.

The Couples Resort near Algonquin Park is amazing! http://www.couplesresort.ca/index.html

Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just as good or better than most restaurants I've been too. They have private cabins with hot tubs and fireplaces. And there is a spa on site and lots of other activites (we went horseback riding and dogsledding).

I can't wait to go back and I highly recommend it!

is there even going to be snow though in... 4 weeks? i hope not.. but in any case assuming there won't be enough for snow activities, maybe you're better off considering something like quebec city or even like new york (so nice at xmas time!) or something where there might be a bit more to do and see? unless of course you just plan to stay in the cabin the whole time heheh ;)

I'm going to have to agree with Sallen - the Algonquin Couple's Retreat is AMAZING! We have been there a couple of times for anniversaries and just adored it. It's really beautiful, and if cozy is what you're looking for it's totally perfect.

    all great ideas and feedback!

you're right too that there probably won't be much snow, if any.  we've also considered new york city.  (been to quebec city recently) but we probably won't get our 'cozy' there.  something to think about....
