NWR - Civil War Museum

I was invited to go to the Civil War Museum for an event in a couple of weeks. Has anyone been there? I hear people telling me it's in a bad part of Harrisburg and others say it's not. Just thought I'd see if anyone here has been there and can offer some information. Thanks Melinda

Its not in a bad area. it's in the city park behind bishop mcdevitt high school

I was there about 2 years ago for a work function. I don't know that area of Harrisburg too well, but I did feel like we had to drive through an area that was not the best. Especially since it was dark, and there was no other cars around, but it we were fine. I just get freaked out easily over things that. The Museum itself is in a safe place and it's a really cool museum, it's just the drive that I didn't like. And I actually think there's a couple different ways to get there so you could probably avoid that part if you wanted to.

It's not the greatest neighborhood. I live about 4 miles away in the Colonial Park area. I go that way to and from work every day, but it is ok for the most part during the day. What time do you have to be there. I could give you an easy and pretty safe way to go.

Nik - it will be early evening, say around 5:00 pm and leaving around 10 pm. I'll be headed over from Lemoyne area, so it looks like if I head over and back Market Street, I'll be ok. If you know an easier way, let me know. I'm not too familiar with Harrisburg though. Melinda
