Anyone know of a Barn venue that can be used for a reception and possibly outdoor ceremony prior too. Looking for something west of this city; MIlton, Georgetown, Guelph area.
Thanks

Try the Halton Region Farm Musume it is just on the outskirts of Milton at Kelso
  • Country Heritage Park in Milton :)   That's where mine is!  The website is pretty useless, but google image some pictures of the place and you'll get a better idea of how wonderful it is.  You can have the ceremony under some trees near the barn or up in the loft area if the weather is bad.

It might be too far, but there's also a barn venue at Balls Falls Conservation area.  No space for an outdoor ceremony there though, unless you have a REALLY small group.

  • There are a few I can think of.  Check out:
    Black Creek Pioneer Village  http://www.blackcreek.ca/
    Westfield Heritage Village  http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/welcome-to-westfield-heritage-village

Ditto the Balls Falls venue, it's fabulous.

Thanks for the info! When is your wedding? Do you know if it's possible to have the ceremony by Kelso Lake just around the corner? Not sure if you looked into this, I haven't been able to get a hold of them. Do they have an onsite caterer or are you finding your own?

Our wedding is June 29, 2013.

You may be able to have the ceremony at Lake Kelso, but they don't close off the park, so you'd be surrounded by all of the beach go-ers/hikers/bikers.   Kelso actually has a barn reception area on site, so it might be easier to do it all there.  The venue is called the Halton Regional Museum:

    http://www.halton.ca/cms/One.aspx?portalId=8310&pageId=9859

That might be a more cost efficient option for you since Country Heritage Park is one fee for the day, so you'd be paying the full amount to hold the reception there and you'd have to pay extra to do your ceremony at Lake Kelso.

CHP has an on-site caterer (Midknight Catering - http://www.midknightcatering.ca/) who are you are required to use.  The alcohol/drinks are done separately.  We hired their suggested bartender Dave Dockray, but I know someone else who is bringing in their own drinks/servers.

Good luck!  Let me know if you have any more questions.
