Sweet table?

How many of you are having a sweet table or some sort of equivalent? I have been told that they are a colossal waste of money, but I have a massive sweet tooth so I am not yet convinced. Discuss! :)

We are having a midnight savoury station - mini burgers, mini turkey sandwiches, mini poutine, etc.  We have a "dessert trio" as our dessert and our cake, and we know from university that at least our intoxicated friends love those carbs as the night goes on!

Ummm, I think its $10/person, but we're only going to do it for 1/2 the number of guests.

I voted yes, but our sweet table was actually our main dessert. We didn't serve plated dessert.

For our dessert table, our venue let us bring in traditional Chinese and Indian sweets. It was one way that we incorporated our heritage. The dessert table also included our wedding cake.

If you can swing it in the budget, your guests will LOVE you for some kind of late-night snack table, whether it's sweets offered by the venue, or some other stuff (I love Littlin's savoury station idea!). Check with your venue; they may even let you bring in outside stuff. Once, we spent a weekend at a B&B in Niagara, and the other couple staying there that night had just had a wedding where they had brought in McDonald's cheeseburgers as their late night snack Smile

We had a traditional sweet table, which, with our cake was our dessert. The best piece of advice we got was to get a lot of the small pastries and fruit rather than the big cakes.

We're having a Pie Table for desserts, as it is my fiance's favourite food.  We're still going to have a wedding cake as well as the sweet table.

I love the idea of the mini burgers/poutine as the midnight snack - especially if our friends have been drinking!

I think sweet tables are great for guests to make up a little bag of goodies and take it home as a gift.  We are going to do a candy table and we are thinking of using: http://sweetsomethingdesigns.com but we are waiting for more information to cost it out.

Has anyone had a candy table at their wedding and did you use it for gifts for the guests?

We are having a midnight seafood buffet, and the venue is letting us bring in some traditional portuguese treats from FMIL's bakery, plus we are serving our wedding cake as the late night station!!!

This was 100% important to me. We're not having a wedding cake, but one kick a** sweet table. It will have miniature versions of cakes and pastries (8 different kinds), 2 traditional Indian desserts, and 2 chocolate fountains - one milk and one dark. The cost was not terrible - about $9 a person (although we have to pay for everyone), but we're saving on other food costs so we were able to do it.

we are allowed to bring in sweets that are traditional cultural type things for no charge. so we are having some cookies, baklava, etc and then the wedding cake.

We are having a sweet/savoury table. Sweet being described by our venue as "Fresh baked biscotti, butter cookies, mini pecan pie, lemon mousse, chocolate torte, apple crumble, decadent chocolate cake, individual chocolate cheesecake, chocolate dipped strawberries and fresh truffles" along with tea and coffee. The savoury part will be made up of different types of gourmet pizza! (margherita, hot italian sausage & olives, white pizza with chicken, spinach and tomatoes). I can't wait!!!

We are having cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake and other small treats, like cookies for our dessert table. We are also having a candy table. I am collecting antique candy dishes and going to bulk barn to pic out candy that matches our color scheme. You can for sure do it on a budget!
