Average length of time for a Bridal shower?

Hi there
I have to help plan my own shower...ugh...I wanted to know what is the usual start and end time:

1pm-4pm?
1pm-5pm?

It's on a Sunday, I think 1-4 is enough time but I've never paid attention to this detail in other parties before.  Any suggestions?

I've never paid attention to the end time either. It usually starts early in the afternoon (1 or 2pm) and ends whenever all of the presents have been opened.

If you're wondering because you have to book a hall for a limited amount of time, I'd book more time rather than less.

1-4 or 1-5 sounds good, depending on how much you have planned in terms of games, if there's a full lunch or just nibbles.

That sucks that you have to plan your own shower....you should get your BM's on this task on the double!

I think 1-4 is good. If you go 1-5 ppl might expect more dinner-ish stuff to eat, depending on whether or not you want to provide this.

Thanks ladies, yeah I think 1-4 is good.  If ppl end up staying later that's ok too.  It will be at my mom's house north of Toronto so 4pm end time leaves ppl enough time to get home and prep for dinner.  Thanks for your input.

yes I have to plan my own shower which makes me want to have one even less.  My mom is throwing it but is going away for 1 month and is not really...how should I put it....she's a bit shy.  My maid of honor is my 19 year old niece and she's one of the laziest teen's I've ever met, also, not an initiative taker and needs to be directed.  At that point, I might as well do it myself.  Unfortunately you can't choose your family LOL. sigh.

Thanks for your help on this one.  I'll be back with more questions later
