Eucharistic Ministers?

We talked with the pastor of the church where we are getting married and discussed the different participants we would need for our nuptial mass (readers, gift bearers, etc).  He mentioned that we would also need 3 eucharistic ministers (in addition to the priest) to distribute communion.

Quite honestly, I don't think we have 3 trained eucharistic ministers among our intended guests.  Would it be appropriate to ask family members to be trained as eucharistic ministers for our wedding or should we talk to the church and see if they would be able to supply some of the ministers?

Does your church have altar servers? They're usually available for a small honorarium (I think ours were $30 or $40).

Maybe you could send out an email to some of your family asking if any of them are trained? There may be a few (lucky) surprises. If nothing, or not enough turn up, then of course talk to the pastor about it.

In our church, they don't have to be trained.

We only need 3 total, because our wedding is fewer than 150 people. Because we're the ministers, we thought it would be nice for us to serve the Eucharist. So the priest is going to serve the Body for the entire church, and FI and I are serving the Blood (on our respective "sides" of the church).

I aksed my priest to provide the names of people who are already trained.  Then I asked those people if they would be willing to serve.  Luckily, there were about five amongst the guests I invited so it worked out.

I ditto berrytr. If you don't have EM in your family or friends, I would ask the church. They usually have a list of people that are trained/certified that would be willing to do it for your wedding probably for a small fee/tip.

Our parish said that if we knew anyone who was a EM, then we could have them do it at the wedding, or if we didn't, they could assign someone from the parish.  I would imagine your parish could do something similar too.
