Prayer for Engaged Couples

Hey everyone, I just found the Catholic Wedding board and am sooo stoked!!! So FI and I have been looking for a good prayer for engaged couples to add to our prayer lives. Do any of you ladies know one/some? Thanks!

Welcome!

Here is one that a friend sent me back when we were both engaged:

PRAYER FOR THE ENGAGED

Lord, my heart is on fire with love for a person you know and love. You yourself enabled us to meet each other and brought us together. Thank you for this gift, which fills me with deep joy, makes me resemble you – for you are Love – and leads me to understand the value of the life you gave me.

Never let me squander this treasure you have stored in my heart.

Teach me that love means giving myself and can have no part with selfishness;

That love is pure and must never become tainted;

That love is fruitful and from now on has to create a new way of life for both of us.

Lord, hear my prayer for the one who is waiting for my hand in marriage and is thinking about me, the one who has placed in me all his (her) trust for the future, the one who walks by my side.

Make us worthy of each other. May we truly be a help and example for each other. Help us in our preparation for marriage, with the dignity and responsibility it entails, so that from now on our souls will master our bodies and guide them to express true love. Amen.

My Pastor gave us a beautiful book called "Prayerbook for Engaged Couples" compiled by Austin Fleming. It is a book that has every single reading choice for a Catholic wedding, and each one has a short meditation and prayer. My fiancee and I have been praying with it to help us choose readings. It has made our marriage preparation so much more beautiful instead of just choosing a reading as another "to do" item on our list. There is also another book called "Together for Life" by Joseph M. Champlin that has all of the readings and commentaries and how to choose readings for a Catholic wedding. Both are excellent resources. (Just FYI, keep in mind that for a Catholic ceremony, you will need 2 readings (OT & NT), a psalm response, and a Gospel reading.
