Made it to Friday... and out of the dark

Hi ladies,  Thought I'd start a Friday "chat" board. 

Anyone else in here affected by the power outage in So Cal last night?  It was pretty eerie.  Not much as far as looting goes, but people were hoarding water like crazy at the few grocery stores that were open.  As in, filling two shopping carts with flats of water.  Luckily, we're back up and running today (which means I had to go to work), and luckily there was minimal damage/crime due to the blackout.  Safety and sanity was definitely the theme of the evening prayers last night, that's for sure.

How's everyone else's week turning out?

Hey!  I'm glad to hear you have power back!

I'm at home right now, trying a new brownie recipe(with a malted milk topping) to take to our tailgate tomorrrow.  I am hoping it turns out!  Otherwise, I am just exhausted, and still need to drive to Michigan tonight, but having a pretty good day!

I have been hanging by a thread all week. FI has been doing pre- deployment training in the middle of the ocean and I think (?) he may still be alive, the jury is still out on that one....I haven't talked to him since Tuesday morning...and have gotten two short (one sentence) facebook wall posts.  UGHHH! He comes back sometime this weekend (hush hush OSPEC stuff) so then I can talk to him.

I actually have a busy week with school this weekend... so it won't be very relaxing. Boo

We had some flooding around here yesterday.  Schools were cancelled today, but I still have to work...no fair!  After 3 weeks of natural disaster -- earthquake, hurricane, flood -- I feel like either 1) the end of the world is coming, 2) God is punishing the US by sending a plague to DC ,or 3) I don't have a 3, but lists of three look better.

Honestly, though, none of these events have caused many deaths or even much damage around here.  Maybe a couple flooded basements or broken dishes, but nothing insane.  So it's not really a huge deal, but it's still very eerie and freaks me out.  I feel like we're falling apart over here lol.

Also...Meg, I want brownies now, thanks a lot!

@ Amanda - ditto on the busy weekend.  Hope all is well for FI and that he stays safe.

I think the surprising thing about yesterday's outage is from what they can tell, it was caused by one worker who disconnected some sort of useage monitor or something outside of Yuma, AZ.  It dominoed and took out service to all of San Diego, parts of Orange County, parts of AZ, parts of Baja California, and I even heard parts of NM were affected.  All from one little OOPS.  Thankfully, it's cooler today, so AC's shouldn't be running as much as earlier this week, at least not in the San Diego area.
