Is anyone doing a "Prayer of the Couple"?

This was in the Together For Life booklet, listed as optional, and is a prayer the couple composes themselves and says after the Exchange of the Rings and before the Prayer of the Faithul.  Not to be confused with the Nuptial Blessing that the priest says.

I was just wondering because our priest suggested that we do it since our (Latin Rite Norvus Ordo) Mass is in Vietnamese and we wanted to incorporate something in English for our English-speaking guests.

    We're not. Our priest recommended that we skip it.

    I wanted to do this, I thought it sound really sweet and sentimental but my fiancee didn't want to because it would mean reading something and he hates to read things unless its about cars *eye roll*. I think its more because of his dyslexia and its harder for him to read things that he doesn't 100% want to read. But I would do it because I think it so nice

    We just composed our prayer.  What do you think of this?  I'm very concerned it's too wordy.  Is it?


    [me] Lord, you have fulfilled the desire of our hearts to be together.  Thank you for the Sacrament of Marriage and for joining us today.  We praise you for the happiness you have poured into us and for the experience of living a joy-filled life together.  We create and offer our life to you. 

    [FI] Father, grant us the strength to serve you and your people and help us to live out our holy vocation according to your Will.  Make our love fruitful so we may create a home of peace and forgiveness.  May our devotion in marriage be a radiant reflection of your love for us. 

    [in unison] Through Christ, our Lord, Amen.

    The "Prayer of the couple" is not in the rite of marriage. I'm guessing TFL added it when unity candles started becoming popular.

    clearheavens, your prayer is nice, but most of what you are praying is said in a nuptial blessing, or can be said at petitions, too.
