I voted for evening because I think it's a little more fun to dance as the sun goes down and it gets into the evening. However it really depends on location, day of the week, time of the year and, really, what sort of feel you want for the wedding.
i voted 11am, only because i'm biased - i was married at 11.
also, evening weddings can be hard for older folks or people with small children.
i enjoyed 11am because we were able to leave that evening for our honeymoon! also, only a few OOT guests needed to incur the expense of a hotel. most folks traveled 2 hours or less, so they were able to make a day trip out of it. we also did not invite children, so folks only had to get a sitter for the day, and tehy were able to get up and have breakfast with their kids, hit the road, and then still be home in time to tuck them into bed.
You have to ask yourself...what kind of wedding would you like to have. I had the option to pick a mass time between 11-2....2 of course being the latest. I chose 2 pm because I don't really sleep well at night and I don't want to have to wake up at 4 am to "freak out" trying to get ready for an am mass. Also My wedding is in July so with daylights saving time more of my older crowd will be able to attend my reception before it gets too dark. But like Calypso said....if your planning to leave right after the wedding....go for an earlier mass. Our honeymoon is scheduled for the following Monday....so we have time to get stuff together.

i was up at 5am that morning - but that is only because we opted to do all of our pictures before hand. so we had photos done from 830-1030. because the church is half hour from our house, we had to leave at 8, so my hairdresser came at 530 or 6. otherwise, i would not have had to get up that early.
i don't really think it's about what sounds better but what kind of wedding you want. do you want more of a lunch/daytime style wedding or a dinner/evening kind of vibe. i think a daytime wedding would be more laid back and casual whereas an evening wedding would be more lively and people will probably drink more. it could be a budget thing too. i think a lot of venues would cost less during the day. i know someone that had their heart set on a specific venue but when she looked into it the cost of renting it in the evening was ridiculous but she could afford the daytime rental so she did that.

are your guests coming from out of town and would prefer to drive home after the wedding?
