RSVP vent

So...we have 9 days until our RSVP deadline.  We are still waiting on the majority of them to come back, nearly 60 still.  When I woke up this morning I had an email from one of FI's Aunts who has not sent her RSVP card back.  It was to tell us that they cant come to the wedding bc its on a Friday and she cant get that day off work and his uncle has a doctors appointment that cant be changed.  Fine, just send back you RSVP card!!!  She then went on to say that they had no idea our wedding was on Friday (even though we sent out a save the date with the date almost 4 months ago) and that if it had been on Saturday they would have been sure to make it.  We sent out the save the date to make sure people had time to arrange things at work and made sure that our STD had not just the date but the day of the week so people would realize its on a Friday...not to mention that the invites say Friday July 13th as well!  We realized that a lot of people might miss the ceremony bc its on a Friday but thought at least our close family would make it.  Ugh...I am probably more annoyed about them not coming bc I am so frustrated that people cant take 5 minutes to fill out their stamped RSVP postcard and drop it in the mailbox!

Re: RSVP vent

  • It doesn't even take 5 minutes to fill out an RSVP and mail it! haha I will never understand why people delay things like this. Clearly they have either never planned a wedding or don't remember what it's like to plan a wedding.

  • Im thinking most wait until the dead line. We gave until june21st and I got 5 back so far lol and Im always a bundle of nerves LOL
  • I'm planning on contact people a few days after the rsvp deadline. There's nothing you can do about it until the deadline passes. That's why I made my deadline 5 weeks in advance. So I could have time to hassle guests about sending their rsvp card, but not being pressed for time.

It's AMAZING how many people don't really read save the dates, even when they're magnets on someone's refrigerator.
  • Planning fail on her part. Well at least about the doctor's appt. not so much the work part. But, telling you that they could have made it if it were on Saturday is a bit irrelevant.

  • Our RSVP date is May 31st. Technically there are 9 days til the 31st but people seem to NOT remember that mail doesnt move on SUNDAYS or MONDAY of memorial!? We are leaving for camping on Friday and I expect to come home to a mailbox FULL of RSVPS on Tuesday.  We are still waiting on 60+ and 40 of those 60+ are FI family and friends. It pisses me off to think we spent money on an additional stamp to encourage people to SEND the rsvps in! I could have used that extra $80 I spent on something else!

  • Our RSVP date is June 15, We have received over half of ours back.  With only one decline.  It is fun to get a couple in the mail each day.  I had two people say our RSVP was too cool to send back, so one sent back a sticky note and one made a copy and returned it in the envelope.

I was always the type to send back the RSVP after a little time went by.  I always got it back prior to the deadline, but it never occurred to me that "the sooner the better" really applied here.

Over the past year I''ve realized I should send it back asap.  Now, I don't even leave my mail box.  I pull a pen out of my purse, fill it in, and drop it right back in the mail.  It was funny how appreciative the brides were when they got my RSVP within a couple of days.
  • I'm in the same boat! I invited 260 guests and have only heard from 60! It's driving me nuts!!! Our deadline is June 1, hope a miracle happens before then to save me the hassle of contacting 200 people.
  • Same thing.  Deadline is May 25th, got 58 of 120 back.  Its driving me mad.  Not to mention my shower is this weekend and that deadline was yesterday.  I had to go on to Facebook to ask people beacuse my sister-in-law said the only people who rsvp'd were to say no.  Soooo no one is coming???
